Hey guys,I've been lurking here quite some time and the info I've gained from here has been awesome.
Things like WO,olive oil, coconut oil for hair...has really made my hair from dull, dry and lifeless to shiny, nice and healthy.
I've had short hair most of my life, all the way(NO 1-3), till last year July when I came to uni, mostly due to parental objection, conscription and 'corporate image'.
Initially I wanted long hair, because I thought it was cool, but now as it grows, I just like the way it has a life of its own.
Although my hair has been growing,I'm in no way a long hair,(5 months) but I noticed something recently which horrified me.
I think,I'm balding and while,I don't mind going bald eventually,I had hoped that would be in my 50s or 60s. And given the fact the men in my family seem to go bald,(at least my father's side and some on my mother's side.)...
So I was hoping, maybe I'm wrong and worrying for no good reason(which I've been told increases the chances of going bald) and if I really am losing hair,is there anything I can do to slow down or reverse the process?
Thank you.
Hi Ash,
Genetics determine whether or not a guy will have hair loss in their future, and the only thing I've ever heard of that can successfully stop or at least slow down that process are the expensive hair treatments for MPB (the names of which I'm forgetting right now....), -- there are a few guys here who have had direct experience with these treatments, so hopefully they'll see your post and reply accordingly. I have a receding hairline myself; but basically have just learned to accept it as part of the growing older process. Also, in general, most people (including women) certainly usually experience at least some degree of hair-thinning as they age as well.
I've heard it said that by age 30, whatever amount of MPB hair loss occurs by that time is pretty much how it's destined to be for later (just more increase of it, especially increased thinning). In my case, for example, by age 30 I could tell my hairline was starting to recede a bit; but was lucky not to see bald spots anywhere else. That pattern has remained -- just a more obvious receding of my hairline near the temples, now that I'm fif.... fifff.... [Ahemmmmm... I guess there's an ob ject stuck in my throat right now, as I'm trying to reveal my age....)... Fif-teee... fif-TEEN!! Yes, that's it! I'm fif-TEEN-six!! I've become a very old "teenager", just happen to look like hell if I stand next to anyone else "my age"!!

Hi Ken,
The genetics in my family at least among the males, seem to bode ill for my hair :(
I'm currently googling up treatments for MPB and hoping to find some natural or herbal cures.
But I'm hoping as Dusk has said,it's just a whirl or as you've said that MPB is not necessarily harsh.
Thanks for the advice and I hope when I'm fif-teen,I'll have hair as nice as yours. :)
I don't see any hair loss in that picture. I've got a whirl on my head, combed properly you don't see it but looks like a hole in the hair. It's the hair growth direction, you can't change that.
Thanks Dusk,I hope it's a whirl as well. And as long as that whirl doesn't get bigger,I'll be a happy man. :)
