Reading the paper online I saw this story about Osama Bin Laden's son Omar who wrote a book about the family.
I was surprised to see him in dreads and a short Goatee wearing a t shirt and leather jacket. The photo is 2 years old and who knows if he still has the dreads but they were pretty long then.
Not all children follow in their fathers footsteps.
I may actually read Omars book but think if I order it on Amazon will that get me on the governments watch list? LOL
Or maybe not so "LOL" as it really might. I'm remembering the Terry Gilliam film "Brazil" For those who know the film I'm imagining myself reading the book in my home and them cutting a circular hole in my ceiling to come get me.
I linked the article below
Hah as if! The government won't let the military deal with the interrogation of a terrorist who almost managed to bomb a plane and you are worrying about them coming to get you cause you read a book? =p
I wonder if Omar's wife, Zaina Alsabah, is a descendent of Hassan Ben Sabah (Alsabah just means The Sabah anyway)? Ben Sabah led the original Assassins, a band of outlaws who smoked hashish before attacking. He was also a school friend of my hero, the poet Omar Khayyam.
(Cut to the strains of Hawkwind playing "Assassins of Allah")
The original Assassins, a very interesting cult. To give the appointed assassin a taste of what was to be his reward after death, he was drugged and taken to a secret and secluded place. Upon awakening, he was allowed pleasures with the palace girls, the best foods, etc. Then he was drugged again and set forth on his mission, now completely without fear of death thinking he had actually visited the "other side".
Anyone wanting to know more about them could read Colin Wilson's book "History of Murder". He also tells about the original "Thugs" in India (if I remember correctly)from whom we get that name.

You are correct. Our word, "thug," comes from the cult of the Thuggee in India who were a bunch of brigands and thieves. The second Indiana Jones movie was about a fictional scenario in which the Tuggee cult was still in operation.
Not to be picky (my wife would be laughing here) but looking at the picture in the article it looks like he has "twists" which are small rope braids rather than dreads.

Exactly! Take me and my father, for example: my father was a narrow-minded, bigoted, anti-longhair heterosexual who spoke to others using a lot of nasty sarcasm.
On the other hand, I'm a narrow-minded, bigoted, pro-longhair homosexual who speaks to others using a lot of nasty sarcasm!
"It runs in the family" (LOL)

LOL
but I'm not so sure as in the pic he looks rather western and I'm sure Father would not approve.
ROFL!
