The news last night reported that a new trend amongst men in Canada is growing long hair. Which was presented because work ethics viewing men with long hair have changed in Canada.
Since most emplayers now are not offended by men with long hair, more and more Canadian men are sporting longer hair in the office and many other places.
I see many many men here in Toronto with long hair.
Times are changing
This is good news.
Well that's great to hear but I hope it just isn't an isolated case with a few employers. However even if it is it's a step in the right direction.Maybe some of that will rub off here in the US:)Interesting they devoted a news story just for that.Way to go Canada!

Well, I can only hope that it is indeed a genuine trend(not media hype) and that "white collar" employers/companies start to become a little more accommodating and accepting of mail long hair in a work environment. This is currently my greatest fear ; the paradox of growing my hair long whilst actively seeking employment. Maybe I should move to Canada? lol
That's great news! I live in Canada, and I am hoping to get a summer job this year. So if this trend is real, I should have no problems with employers and my long hair. Sweet!!
And the plan to take over the world is starting to materialize! Haha.
Thanks for this great news.

Let's hope the employer thing spreads to the US. Then, let's hope that there are REALLY full time jobs available and not "partial-truth" statements.
This is great news and a sign that the pendulum is swinging the other way after all too many years.
Thank you for letting us know of this.
Justin~

This is good and hopefully it will spill over into the United States. No one should be denied a good job due to hair length. All double standards where only women are allowed long hair need to end too.

There are 3 long-hairs in my office in Mississauga, Ontario alone. 1 senior executive, one of our top sales people and yours truly.

although I am looking for a copy of the news article. The main aspect of the "Trend" that I was mentioning is that the concept of the traditional man in the offices of Canada have changed.
Sadly it mentioned that with the Influence of the United States waning in our Canadian market the changes are scene in corperate dress codes going very casual, and the general viewpoint of men's grooming also changing.
Because Canada (Like the States) is very multi-cultural the changes to traditional cloting, and male dress is also changing rapidly.
They also mentioned the lack of religious influence that can be injected. For example Ford Motor Company of Canada, will not allow a man to keep their hair long, as an image thing.
However the Canadian Banks, Offices, Hospitality industry etc, have relaxed their mens dress code to allow long (Neatly Kept) hair as long as it is naturally colored (No odd colors)
So yeah...I hope this does spill into things in the US. I think it's a good example that a mans hair does not make a man hindered in the work place.
That's great for my Canadian brothers!
I hope the trend continues for those of us south of the northern border...
Very patriotic!
Well it's certainly an encouraging trend and it must be spreading from Alaska and I'm sure you need longhair facial covering for that climate.
Cheers,

I live and work in Montreal, and there are quite a few men with long hair here too. I would like to know from which station the report came from.
Thanks
Georges in Montreal.
It was on Global.
