I have been growing my hair since December 2001(when I finally commited myself) and I have not cut it since (not Once!!)I live in the UK and get alot of hassle from fellow class mates at school about it. I just wanted to know if anybody else has the same problems
-thanks!!-
fuck yes. All through high school when i had long hair, years 9, 10 and 11, I had constant abuse from the dick heads at school. BUT I kept with it and left school and went to college. Its so much better, everyone is their own person, does what they want and those childish fucks arnt there to give you any hassle. College rules.
yeah i get that all the time, i kinda like it, its what i was going for when i started growing my hair long. I wanted to be different and thats what i got, the taunts are part of it. Anything that is not normal as they would call it they have to make fun of and taunt you about it. Thats part of having long hair, accepting what goes along with it.
In October I got a lot of comments about it. Now it's only one or two townie kids who continually hassle me about it. Most of the below years also act like they've never seen long hair before, but I only see them for about 2 minutes.
You know what you said about the years below act like they've never seen long hair before; do you get that hassle on the bus in the morning and afternoon like I do? The only people who are safe with my long hair is the small group of 'freaks' that I hang round with. some townies hassle me about it and they have bleached hair and black eye brows!! My whole school is infested with them and each of them have different names for me they probably want long hair too and are just jelous.
Can't say I do. I don't ride the bus. However it is the same one or two people who constantly hassle me. The ones with their french crops with the front gelled up. I get called a twat, a hippy, a goth, grunger and other stuff. I get comments from years below, when I'm walking between classes and they'll walk past me and then shout "Get a haircut" and laugh. Oh well I'm almost away from them. Hope things get better for you.
I think things will get better as I'm almost away from the inbreds too, thanks for the encouragement and good luck.
.
I'm in the UK too, getting on a years -50- and a company director : Yes you will but don't worry as long as it is neat and clean people will accept it happily. As to jerks at school long hair will be back soon - look at the fashions- they'll be quick to follow.
Yeah I live in the UK too and every month I seem to notice more and more people growing their hair out or with long hair. Maybe long hair will slowly become the majority again. Well we can hope eh?
YUP JUSTIN SINCE I STARTED GROWING MY HAIR I NOTICE ALOT OF GUYS GROWING THERE HAIR LONG...AND IM A MEXICAN FROM LOS ANGELES WHERE ALOT OF MY PEOPLE ARE INTO BALD HEADS. LONG HAIR IS COMING BACK!!
Hey, I'm from UK too, and about 7-8 months growing into it. I get called Ruud Van Nistolry(dunno the spelling) a lot =p - Manchester Utd. footballer for you americans - and get a few mullet comments, from people who obviously don't know what a mullet is. Apart from that it's not too bad.
Just don`t care about them. For me it was worst but with time, if you persevere with your long hair, people will soon find out that you are above their comments.
Your hair is yours not theirs.
Gah! People do that here (Canada)..in school people shout 'Mullet!' at me, although I don't even know what a mullet is! I know it's a fish, but this must be some hairstyle that is particularly derided, or they're making fun of me because I'm half Newf (from Newfoundland) which is of course a fishing province. Hmmm
Anyway, remember that those people are conformist fools who mean nothing now and even less later. You're an individual, hold yourself higher than them, be the bigger person and ignore them, it'll be good pratice!
