Long-haired Texas boy long hair
Perhaps members the school board had been at the "bottle" again and forgot about the big flag policy!
IDIOTS!!!
What the F is wrong with the mentality of our educational system! Nothing better to do than to pick on a 4 year old? PATHETIC!!!!!!!!! Educated clone MORONS!
You know, it really wasn't all that long ago that boys hair wasn't even cut until around the age of 5 and my own father was one of them. (b. 1912.)
Teachers, "BOREDS" of education..........get a life. How about teaching something to the students? And, definately bring-up the state of a nation that is in the worst trouble now in its entire history to the students. Hey, even a better idea: instead of all of the so-called higher-mathematics, when are you going to teach the students how to count change, manage a checking account.......you know you highly educated clones.........like the kinds of things needed to be known so as to be able to function in REAL LIFE!
End of Pontification

Get em Justin.
Hey Justin...just curious what part of society do you APPROVE of? There is a lot of good, well-meaning folks out there.
A whole lot! :-)
As for "boreds" of education, there's that famous quote attributed to Mark Twain:
"God created idiots. That was for practice. Then he created school boards"
I think the kid is getting a fantastic education. He is getting what I call "meta education". These are the lessons that the system teaches you *unintentionally*.
A metalesson that I was frequently exposed to was "authorities don't want fair outcomes. They simply want to punish somebody"
A more benign metalesson was "nothing kills your average quite like a zero". Certainly, university didn't set out to teach me that; but I learned this one very well. Failing to turn in an assignment is a zero. If you get 100 on the next one, you're average is 50 which is an F. If you had simply put forth a 50 instead of ditching, your average would be 75 which is a C.
A more succinct expression of that is, "half the battle in life is just showing up". The kid is learning that one too.
"Nothing better to do than to pick on a 4 year old?"
Jim Wooten, a columnist with the *Atlanta Journal-Constitution*, referred to this story as an example of the "self-centeredness" he wishes he'd see less of. Apparently to him, fighting rules you don't like is somehow asking for some special dispensation (while those in authority can do whatever they please, apparently).
BTW, just to top it off, it was his CHRISTMAS column. Feh!

You'd think in this day and age there would be more important things to be concerned about.Guess life in this Texas town must be all peaches and cream so why not pick on the poor longhair.Certainly makes home schooling an attractive option.

Hi Bruce,
What a great commentary! I had some trouble trying to jump through the posting hoops in order to successfully post a comment myself on there; but, apparently I finally did everything right.
Thanks for sharing that link!

its funny how cultures who say they are 'free' and 'liberated' and 'justice for all' still impose fascist rules on some who dont conform to some ideal that some 'mumpty' made up because he/she got in power (and small-ish power sometimes) - total crap imho
