Wow, it's been a while. . .I forgot about all these little nuances of the awkward stage.
Hair's forming "wings" now. I'm wearing a ball cap (to blend in with rural East Tx) and I'm constantly tucking them back behind the ears and up under the cap.
Interestingly enough, it's not annoying me nearly so much as last time, and I don't feel the urge to get a trim/shape cut at all. I'm wanting to just let it grow as it will from the shaved head. . .I'll keep it detangled long enough so I can tie it back in a respectable braid before going back to dreadlocks.
Be well!
My 2nd time around of going through the awkward stage didn't bother me as much as my first time, either... I was just so happy and anxious to see my hair grow back after my stupid Y2K haircut that "awkward' didn't feel all that awkward anymore (if you know what I mean).
I think it's also an issue of overcoming one's own demons of too much self-consciousness during the first time of growing out one's hair -- at least it was for me back in the '90s. As the old saying goes, "Whatever gets you through the night!" -- be it hats, hair gel, or hair spray -- as long as you keep your eye on the goal, you eventually get there!
My best to you!!

Anywhere near Nacogdoches ?? I visit there a couple times a year....
Walter,
Let me know the next time you're out that way.
Nacogdoches is an easy day trip from where I live (Dallas/Fort Worth).
Maybe even all three of us could have a nice meet there.

Absolutely !! My god-daughter is in Dallas.
That will be great fun.....it may be a while though...I am just packing to spend a couple of months working a contract in Iowa....Brrrr
Yeah, just south of Jacksonville, Tx, about 45 minutes from Nacogdoches.
Good to hear you are making a long hair comeback!
That ''Bald'' Guy -> That ''Ball'' Guy
and when he's just blending in with rural East Tx...That ''Ball Cap'' Guy :-)
