Taken on Thanksgiving Day at the base of Bridalveil Falls (more precisely, at the lower pool/lower cascade)
Let me assure you my hair didn't stay that neat very long down there in the mist and breeze from the waterfall.
Beautiful shot!

What an awesome pic with the beautiful flowing falls and mane:)
Both are certainly a wonder of nature. What a great way to spend
turkey day apart from regular tradition.Way to go!Cheers
Mark
Well, we did go to the Ahwahnee for dinner, eventually.
Wouldn't it have been cool to have the dinner right there by the falls:)Might have been difficult keeping the food hot and dry I suppose.
Mark
That is one of those things that seem incredibly romantic and neat, but the reality is quite something else!
We actually scrambled up to the upper pool...which was really pretty, but didn't take pictures due to the constant gale of near freezing mist.
It's strange seeing you without the glasses. Cool picture nevertheless.
Both the Waterfall and the Hairfall are true Wonders of Nature.
Thanks for Sharing
Walter

Your hair looks fantastic, Robert. Maybe we could organize a longhair meetup later this year. It has been awhile.
I noticed what looks like a fish in midair at elbow height. I took a closer look and now realize it is just a natural marking on the rock.
You are right about low water. The falls have very little water in them. I would guess that the falls have 20 times that flow rate during the spring snow melt.
Scott
Oh, I think the flow rate during the spring melt is more like 100s if not 1000s of times greater.
Here is a picture of the waterfall in the background during high water...taken from rather further way while getting completely doused!
--------------------------------------------
It looks like more than 100 times the flow for sure compared to the other photo taken at the end of the dry season. The waterfall looks very dangerous and intimidating.
Scott
Most of the mist is from the upper falls...the picture is from the end of the trail/falls viewpoint...there is it like standing in heavy driving rail with strong wind. Certainly you don't want to go near the water, which is very cold and fast moving.
My feeling are more awe at the incredible power of the beauty of nature, than concern about the danger.
Awesome pic.
Dude, your hair looks simply amazing!
You have such a mighty presence in the photo.
I hope to have hair that long one day.
Thanks!
Whether you can grow it that long is up to your parents...genetically anyway!
EXCELLENT photo there, Trolleypup!!! In every way, that's an outstanding pic!! My compliments also to the photographer (your girlfriend, I presume?)
Also, before I forget: thanks so much for sharing those high surf pics last week or so ago. Was that one of the Seal Rocks near the Cliff House that the wave crashed over? If so, OMG, that must have been one INCREDIBLY HUGE wave!!!!!
It was fun accidentally bumping into you on that MUNI bus last fall. Hope you continue to enjoy your new position as a MUNI Supervisor!

Yes. I'll pass that on.
No, that was a much smaller rock closer to Lands End. Only 30-40 feet tall!
Keep your eye on the weather websites...we have had several episodes of high surf/high tide since...I think the predicted swell for that one was 15-17 feet, with a 6 foot tide.
I am, so far!
Great photo. Not a bad waterfall of hair there either.
Hey Trollypup:
WOW! O.K. you win, hands down for the most incredible long hair I have ever seen on a guy. Your hair looks full, thick and really well taken care of. The scenery is also awesome. I've seen several incredible water falls in Hawaii and Japan and felt inspired by their beauty. Your hair and the water cascading down make for a great picture.
Del
Hmmm...I can't remember if I posted this one here...
Thanks for the compliments. I got lucky with the genetic dice game!
Waterfalls are sooo amazing...and if you have the skills to do it safely, scrambling closer to the actual falls!
High!
Awesome image - a longhair immersed in nature, almost paradisiacal! That's how longhairs should look and be like... although the wristwatch is still a reminder that this state is just a passing thing and even the most nature-loving longhair sooner or later needs to return to civilization!
Isn't it somewhat dangerous, what about the risk of getting hit by pebbles carried along down with the water?
Another question - do you also like swamps?
See you in Khyberspace!
Yadgar
True, although it is a wilderness appropriate watch...altimeter, compass, etc. very useful! Interestingly, this waterfall is only about a 1/10 of a mile from the road, on a wheelchair accessible trail.
Under normal water flow conditions, there is very little being carried in the water...not even sand or silt. OK...unless it is in a disturbed area. (see attached image) I'd worry a lot more about slipping on the rocks around the waterfall, or having a traffic accident on the way to the falls.
Swamps are pretty cool too...esp if you can canoe through them!
Wow ... nice composition and an awesome mane!:) And I mean a REALLY awesome mane that is nicer than any I've seen in Phoenix. But that water looks COLD!
Thanks!
The water was not warm, but not bitterly or painfully cold. The air was pleasant, so I dried off fairly quickly once we go out of the shade...OK...my hair took a while to dry...it got soaked a little after this pic was taken. Water wash and all.
This is such an awesome pic of your hair in the most natural setting one can imagine.Certainly you know how blessed you are to have achieved such a glorious mane.If this doesn't inspire a guy to grow out his own hair than nothing will.
Mark
A truely inspiring picture and thanks for sharing.
Looks I've been missing something on the lower west side.
Cheers,
John.B
What a great photo this is and your long hair is just beyond words! So interesting is the fact that we have a falls by the same name here in OR. which empties into the Columbia River Gorge. Source of the water coming from the snow melting atop Mt. Hood.
Justin~
There are Bridalveil Falls everywhere! The one on the Gorge is beautiful too. Actually...it is only at this season that Bridalveil in the Valley looks like a veil...most of the time it has too much water and looks like a very tall skinny waterfall. Ribbon Falls...when it is running is always a veil blowing in the breeze.
Been way to long since I've visited the one on the Columbia...
Bonus random waterfall...not a Bridalveil.
Some high water pics that include Bridalveil Falls
Posted the wrong text.
This is Ribbon Falls, on the other side of the Valley from Bridalveil.
Yeah, just like there are lots of "Mosquito Lakes".
It could be that they are franchises, like McDonald's, but it's more likely that lots of falls look like bridal veils, and lots of lakes have mosquitoes. [wink]
Bill
And then there is the Standard and Required Place Names in National Parks list...
Bridalveil Falls, Mirror Lake, Devils Postpile/Steps/etc, ....
Looking really good. Beautiful hair and I can say the same about the waterfall.
Hi Trolleypup,
You always post the most outstanding photos! Of course your hair is always an inspiration, but you also live near some of the most beautiful places on the planet. Ironically, there was a show about Yosemite not that long ago on my National Geographic channel. My dream is that sometime before I die, I make the trip to the west coast of the USA, and see these sights with my own two eyes.
Thanks for sharing,
David
ROAD TRIP!
'nuff said!
Hi again, Trolleypup,
The road trip will come some day, I promise, once Tammy is up to a little bit of travel!
David
Magnificent.
Yeah, I was actually so shocked I had to consult the thesaurus.
