Well, as you all know.
I'm trying to get my hair just below my butt. That is my ultimate goal.
I notice I get split ends a lot or so it seems.
Going from a half an inch trim every 3 months. i decided to take some advice from some of the users here and trim less often.
As of now I am going 4-5 months without trimming. Well, I'm kind of "search and destroying" the split ens if I see them. I'll just trim it off.
I would like to know what you guys use to detangle your hair.
I use a pick. After I wash my hair I run a pick through it gently and slowly. I have heard regular brushes are bad for your hair and it is best to use wide tooth combs instead of brushing.
Also, do any of you towel dry your hair? I figured scrubbing it dry with a towel was more than likely very damaging to the hair so for awhile now I have been gently squeezing and pressing the towel to my hair, nothing more.
What do you guys do and any other recommendations to help prevent split ends.
I want the length but I want the healthy look as well.
Thanks in advance!
Hiya,
My hair's currently down to just past the top of my butt, and I'm hoping it will keep going although it does seem to be slowing down a little.
Anyway, my routine... I wash my hair usually twice a week now. I don't towel dry. What I'll usually do is wrap a towel around the length of my hair and flip it up over my head and leave it like that for a few minutes to absorb most of the water. Then I divide my hair into two bunches and smooth a few drops of jojoba oil onto each bunch, starting at the ends and working up. Then I brush it through, again, starting at the ends and working up. I've tried using a comb, but I end up yanking hair out and having knots and tangles when I do, so I just use my brush. It's got soft nylon bristle which don't pull the hair, and I very rarely end up with tangles.
I've tried other routines and methods, but that's the one which works best for me. I don't have many split ends. I used to have moe, but I think the jojoba oil has made a real difference.
Another thing which I think has helped my hair condition is that I wear it in a plait most of the time. It doesn't get tangled or caught up in car doors etc and it also doesn't dry out as much, so it's less brittle. I think the basic rule of extra-long hair is just to protect it as much as possible.
I agree with Viking in that preventing the tangles is better than dealking with them, however careful you are. braids or multiband ponytail or a bun, depending on your preferences and length will help. I always wear a braid at night to prevent tangles although I very seldom wear one during the day. Good luck!
My fingers.
Yes, but I only push it into the hair.
Conditioner.
