Hi there,
I've just got back from a couple of days off and a nice trip up to Manchester "The Grim North so some people say" and we even had a smattering of the white stuff as well.
While I was up there I arranged to meet up with our very own Decapitated_Vogg (Matt), who has been posting here since around 2004, we enjoyed a good evening over a few beers and seeing the return of one of our favourite Techncial Death Metal Bands of Decapitated. They have not played for 2 years since the death of their drummer Vitek. It was great to see the band back playing again and a really powerful set. There was a good turnout for the band in Manchester with great support from Kataklysm and Man must die
It was good to see you last night mate and we'll have to do it again.
Cheers,
John.B
Hi John,
Hey that's cool that you had a meetup with one of our members:)I certainly remember Vogg from way back and I didn't even know he was from your neck of the woods. If I did I just forgot!LOL.Anyway glad you both had a good time and tipped a few brews in the process.Did you get any pics???? It would be cool seeing the both of you together.Cheers
Mark
That's great to hear about you seeing Decapitated. Great to hear Vogg is keeping with it. Who was the rest of his band for the show? Any ideas on if they are going to record a new album with their new line up? Sorry if I'm coming off like I'm interviewing you about Decapitated.
Hey Garth,
The new vocalist is Rafal Piotrowski, and the bassist is Filip Halucha who are from other Polish DM/BM bands like Vesania and Masachist. The drummer is Kerim Lechner from Austria, who's only 20/21 I think. You can see his videos on YouTube if you search for 'Krimh', very talented guy.
As far as I know this is the lineup they're going to push ahead with. Vogg stated in an interview somewhere they have ideas for new material, and he in particular wants to incorporate cleaner elements which should be interesting.
Back to the original topic, it was good to finally meet a MLHH legend! Plenty of interesting discussion over some beers and as it turned out, with John's extensive involvement in the metal community we even had a few mutual acquaintances. I was most surprised to hear of his ice hockey past - there's something else we'll need to get together to see!
I think I'll have to insist on hunting out the fast food joints for us next time though :P
Thanks for doing that for Garth and saves me a job when I get home tonight.
I did get a message from Simeon who we met tht night and kebab show was just by the bus stop around the corner! The lesson is to listen to the locals and not go off in the other direction.
As for my double axl, or triple salco you will be waiting a long time to see that!!!
Cheers,
John.B
So glad you had this meetup John and it is always such a pleasure meeting another member in person rather than simply through emails and board postings. Hope you have a nice weekend.
Justin~
Always cool to meetup with another board member.
Nice the band did a show, I saw Kataklysm last sunday and they where great. They were touring together with Belphegor which was the band I came for.
Hi Vincent,
Glad you enjoyed them both.
I'm going to see Belphegor in April (see what you are missing Kevin) :-)
Cheers,
John.B
It's great to see board users meeting up and I often wish I had more time or less on my "to do" list when I go over there so I could do a few meet ups.
I'll have to put meet ups on my "to do" list.
Kevin
Wow you have a busy "to do" list!
