I hope that picture answers the question, ha, because yes, they did let me keep it. I got my first job on Friday (yesterday), after months and months of struggling and rejection. Here's how I wear my hair to work. My hair now reaches my belt line and to the bottom of my rib cage.
Off to France in July!
I hope you're all doing well.
Cheers,
Hegg
Congrats on your new job and keeping your hair man. Keep on growing.
Hey, thanks, Tom! :-)
Hegg
Haha, congratulations, man ! Your braid is really amazing, shiny and thick and all... ! What kind of job ? Did you mention the topic ?
Bye
Vivien
Thanks, Vivien!
I work in the kitchen at a restaurant. I clean all the grill parts, dishes, and anything else that is used to prepare food. It's a little hectic. I also prepare food, myself, which I wouldn't have imagined doing with my long hair, but thankfully they gave me a chance with it!
Thanks again, Vivien, good to hear from you.
Hegg
just surfing and saw this, awesome hair man. That is a different style, do you wear it like that often? I think i may try it. Do you have other pics of your hair. would love to see them. thomas
Hi, Thomas.
Thanks for your words! I didn't used to wear it like this often, but now that I work, I will wear it like this often. But when I'm not at work, I wear it down, tucked behind my ears. I don't have any pictures at the moment, just that braid one. I'll probably post pictures in the near future, though!
Cheers, Thomas.

Good going Hegg and I am so happy that you didn't have to lose 1/2" to any employer. How uplifting to all of us in knowing that yet another Long Hair Man has been employed.
BRAVO! And WOW..........what a fantastic braid!
Justin~
Thanks very much, Justin! I am quite happy about that, too! My boss is very nice, I like her. If I can get a job with this long hair IN A RESTAURANT, there's hope out there ;-P
Thanks for your compliments, Justin, I value your opinion a lot!
Hegg
Hi Hegg,
I have always admired your very healthy shiny hair and consider it one of the more outstanding heads of hair at the MLHB.
Glad to hear you found a job where the employer values more important personal qualities then just being judged on mere appearance.
It took you mere months to find a job but would have taken you years to grow back your length if you were forced to cut it.
Duncan
Hey, Duncan.
Thank you so much, I didn't know you admired my hair so. Wow, thanks!!
My boss is quite happy she didn't judge my appearance, because I'm much better than the last person in the position I hold, and she's happy with that. I'm glad I could keep it, really.
Thanks again, Duncan. :-)
Hegg
Hi Hegg, man that's one honey of a braid!Looks great on you and its comforting to know that you were able to find a reasonable employer who allows you to be you:)Good luck in France my friend.Cheers
Mark
Hey, Mark!
Ha, thank you! I'm more than happy with the employer's decisions and consider myself lucky. Thank you so much, Mark. ;-)
Hegg
Hair to envy ; it's so shiny, healthy and long.
The braid works well and looks awesome on you.
Very encouraging for my job seeking prospects, glad I read this post. May I ask what line of work it is?
Hey, thanks!
I'm glad I could encourage you, because it is indeed possible with long hair, I'm living proof. I'm working in the kitchen at a fancy restaurant. So, If I can get a job there with this hair, anyone can! Keep your head up and persist.
Thanks, again,
Hegg
...So what sort of work are you doing? Or do they just having you show off your incredible braid??
Walter
For my first job, I'm working in the kitchen at a fancy restaurant. :-) My mom also works there, so we work together. It's hilarious.. haha. Thanks for your compliment on my braid, Walter :-)
Cheers,
Hegg
Hey Walter, that's a good one!LOL.Yea,I'd love a job where I get paid to show off my long hair:)I could of guessed he got a modeling job as the industry could sorely use more males with fantastic long hair in their ads ans such.Oh well you can always dream:)
Mark
As long as you persist you will always make your goals!
Good job on getting a job and keeping your awesome hair!
Nothing more true than that statement!
Thanks so much, Vincent! :-D
Hi Hegg,
First of all, congratulations on the job, and I am delighted that they allowed you to keep your hair. Your hair is truly outstanding, and that is one awesome braid! I cannot get over your hair's thickness.
Take care,
David
Hey, David.
Thank you, I'm more than happy with their decision as well. Thank you for your awesome compliments, they mean a lot to me. Good to hear from you, David.
Cheers,
Hegg
That's great Hegg!!!! Another longhair success story!
Paul
Hi Hegg,
I hope all is well with you and thanks for the update. I'm sorry that we didn't get to meet up with you when we were going through Minneapolis during my trip over last October.
It sounds like it's a good thing to have a family connection at the place that you are working. I'm sure you got the job on your own merit anyway and it's good to see they would rather you can do the job than have issues with longhair dress code.
As always you hair does look in amazing condition and the naturtla shine that you don't see that often. I think braided hair does look good and if you are dealing with people and better than a ponytail and of course protects the hair better.
Well done on getting the new job and keep in touch my friend.
Cheers,
John.

Wow, that braid is gorgeous. I am glad that your employer let you keep it. It would be very sad to cut such a nice mane as yours. Great update.
Scott
Congrats Hegg, that's good news!
Every "No" you receive in life means you're one step closer the "yes" - You've reached the "Yes" - Congrats!
Your hair is looking fantastic.
- Oren
That's good to hear that your job is going to let you keep your hair. It looks good in the braid too.
Thanks, Garth :)
I'm relieved they let me, I was feeling depressed while searching for work, getting hair cut was in the back of my mind.. ehh. But thankfully that didn't have to happen!
Hegg
Just out of curiosity what job did you get? I've been trying to get a "real" job since graduating college last spring and haven't even gotten a single interview. I've had no problem getting simple jobs though. I think my degree makes them completely overlook the hair.
I'm working as food prep and dish washer at Ruby Tuesday. It actually pays quite well for a first job. I'm sorry to hear your luck for job hunting isn't so nice lately.. I'm sure you'll get one though, Garth, don't lose hope, because in the end, you'll get what you've been after.
ca va?
Quite sad to say 'did they LET ME..' your hair is stunning, glad you 'won'!!! (then again do they LET women keep long hair??? :)
et vive la france... bonne chance sur votre vacance... and I hope you've loads of dosh... haha
Ca va bien!
Oui, c'est triste. :/
Merci beaucoup, Asdis!
