Hi guys!
It's been a while since I've posted here.. something over a year. My hair has been growing out peacefully as there weren't any scissors nearby ;)
I'm here to ask you lot a question:
What type of accessories do you use to keep your hair together? Some time ago I've seen some kind of metal clips that bind the hair together, but I don't know how they are called. They looked like some kind of a ring that you put around your hair and then press it together to close the gap... I really liked the design on them, celtic or rock/metal influences were clearly visible :)
Anywhoo, if anyone knows how these beauties are called or where can i buy them (or something similar) I'd be really happy to find out :)
I think you're talking about either barettes or the stuff from copperbracelets.com. their stuff is in the links section. Theres also a celtic jewely page there too
Oh yes, its the ponytail cuff :)! Any idea where I can get some
"masculine" ones, other than from that site?
Any other hair accessories you guys would recommend?
Nope, all I know of is that site. as far as others go, I just stick to hair ties once every so often and bows and really feminine stuff because it makes the sheeple uncomfortable. Nobody knows what the hell to do around me anymore and its great!!
If you act like a sheep, you will end up shorn.
A New Zealander longhair once told me that, and New Zealanders know their sheep!

Get some sparklies too.
Back when I was driving transit buses, I had an annoying old man who always ranted at me about my hair (blah blah can't tell boy or girl, blah blah gay, blah blah etc). I was always very helpful..."Gosh...the women I like don't have any problem telling that I'm a boy", "And how is being gay a problem in this city?"
Later, I was wandering around in Chinatown and saw the perfect barrette, completely covered in white and pale blue rhinestones. Wore it until he got on...turned it towards him and said "Isn't it pretty! I got it because I knew you'd like it!" Speechless, he turned around and got off the bus...and never rode again...seriously, if he was waiting when I pulled up, he would turn his back! I win!!!!
Sheeple...mmhmm...also Mundanes.
LOL That is funny as heck LOL

Hey Robert, I would have loved to have been there riding on your bus during that hilarious incident. That would have been so sweet to see and would have made my day for sure.
A ride on MUNI - $1.00
The look on that old man's face - priceless.
Some old fuddy duds just don't get it when it comes to long hair and individuality. Mindless sheeple live in their own little world and can't imagine anything outside of it. They just can't think outside the box. Very sad.
I hope you kept that blue and white rhinestone barrette. For you, it is a legendary hair toy, and a great conversation piece.

I have it somewhere...although I think one section of the backing cracked.
It always amuses me that I get the most negative (both numbers and intensity) comments from people who are (how do I put this politely) very much not my target audience! (bitter old short haired straight men and women) It also amuses me that I get sweet compliments from young gay men...along the lines of "I know you aren't gay, but..."
Hey man , I got one of the sterling silver types from nwtreasuretrove.com off ebay. Not too bad of a look. I got the one with Stonehenge design. They also had them in brass and nickel silver alloy. The brass ones have the cuff permanentyly around the elastic holder. Slight pain in the ass to get the hook set properly in the ponytail holder. But I get compliments on it when I wear it. copperbracelets is the other site I looked at. Good luck with the search.

Bronze Jewelers has a good selection of hair friendly and less stereotypically feminine hairtoys.

I personally just got one of those Hair Gloves (aka hair wrap) that I ordered online in the mail. I think they're pretty neat, they're leather and wrap around a pony tail anywhere from 2 to 8 inches of it depending on the glove.
Because I still have a ways to go with growing my hair out, I got the 3.5 inch, but that 3.5 incher is meant a thin ponytail and doesn't completely cover mine, so I'm going to order the one of the 4.5 inch ones on Ebay. I'll have to wait a several months before my hair is long enough, but I'll post a pic of my new Hair Glove when all my hair reaches it.
