Hey everyone, just stumbled on to this place chasing links from littlebird's youtube videos and you look like a friendly bunch. :) I've been growing out my hair for probably the last 25 years so I'm no stranger to the long hair look. I was foolish just out of high school and cut my lovely locks for a job, which is not something I'll do twice. Since then I've grown my hair out but didn't know how to take care of it properly so after 10 years of growth it's still between my shoulders. I did a little digging around November and discovered I was doing a lot of the don'ts which explains why I was shedding so much or the general lack of length. I still need some help getting rid of the frizz but hopefully now I can get some length growing.

Forgot to mention I see you are a racing fan. What racing series do you like?I'm into NASCAR but have been disappointed with the sport the last few years.I think the need to go back to their roots. What part of CA are you from?
Mark
I'm from the SF Bay area though I'm down in the Santa Cruz mountains. I was a big nascar fan in the 80's but it eventually lost my interest. About the only nascar worth watching is when they hit the twisty tracks. Now I follow world challenge, ustcc, rally, and f1, when I'm not racing in hill climbs or auoxing myself. I have a 73 super beetle race car and last year I took the season championship in a bmw.

These are a great group of guys here. Really gave support and encouragement on my longhair journey. Good luck to you.

Hey Welcome and your hair looks great! Your right, its a pretty cool group here and always pretty good and diverse advice on things, which is cool too. I wish you the best and the best in growing your hair longer. Take care!
Hi there,
Thanks for the update and you certainly have great looking hair there and full of body to and do keep it growing. Are you from California or Canada as for us folks over the pond just wanted to know?
I never much saw point of Nascar with all those cars going around the circles. I'm sure the mullet community love it :-)
Cheers,
John.B
ROFL, Ohmygod, John, that's a funny way of putting it -- and my sentiments exactly!
Of course, I guess people could say the same type of comment about the kind of dancing I do: "all those people going around in circles to music" - ROFL!!!
- Ken (still giggling!)
I've been known to go around in circles when I am lost in the woods.

For those in Merrie Olde England....
The United States and Canada went to two-letter abbreviations for their states and provinces about forty years ago. Before that, we were "Calif" or "Cal". I think Levi's buttons still say "SF CAL" on them, but that company goes back to the Gold Rush. You can't tell whether a place is in the United States or Canada unless you know the abbreviations. BC, AB, SK, etc. are in Canada. NY, CA, TX, etc. are in the United States.
North American telephone area codes are the same way. The only way to know which country a number is in is to know the area codes, which is much tougher, since there is no logic to the numbers at all, nor do they suggest full names as do the state abbreviations. You can make a phone call to Canada and not know it until you get the unexpected large bill for it.
Very recently, some people have abbreviated California as "Cali". That to me is strange, since that is a town in South America, and since going to longer abbreviations seems like going backwards. I have no idea how using "Cali" got started.
Even folks over here can get confused about it all. LA is a big city, but it is also Louisiana. And the FCC a few years ago licensed a radio station in MI (Michigan) thinking it was in MO (MIssouri), which meant they gave it a call starting with a K instead of a W. Stations west of the Mississippi get K's, those east get W's. Mississippi is not only a river, it is also a state, and it is abbreviated MS. Are you confused yet!

Hey Humble,
Welcome to MLHH!!!
You have a fantastic head of great-looking curly/wavy hair there!! And I just read in one of your replies below that you live in the SF Bay Area, in the Santa Cruz Mts. -- very cool area! I have a couple of friends who live in the mountains there, as well as a coworker. It's very beautiful and peaceful up there, and feels miles away from the big city, too.
Take care, -- and again, WELCOME!

Looking at your hair, if you use a bit of conditioner, your hair would show a lot of curls near the end. You should try it out. As for the length in relation to time, being shoulder length the past 15 years, part of it is the curls but part of it, I don't know what to say...
