I found a useful trick for those having difficulty with hair that's going wild in the back.
Before you sleep, get a comb and brush it flat and hold it against your head with both hands. Then, while still holding it flat and straight, split the hair into two parts, and fold them across each other (one over and one under). Lie down on the pillow with it like this and slide your hands out from under the back of your head. Sleep on it this way. In the morning it will be sort of "flattened" out and much straighter.
