Hello there amazing long haired people :)
1st of all let me give you a brief surface introduction about me.
i'm born a chinese in the country Malaysia and think i'm one of the few 'asian' ppl that have seen or joined this site.I have been following this site for some time now and was reluctant to post any thread at 1st due to my shy nature.
It made me felt encouraged about growing my hair out everytime someone else post a new thread here.I have to admit i felt a sense of belonging here.Though my country is of a mix ethnicity,chinese indian and malays,long hair on man is scarce and even revolted by certain people.I'm sure it is the same for anywhere.
that aside,now about my hair.i have been growing it out for almost a year now since shaved length.It wasn't my choice to be shaved either.My goal length is until my hips.

Hi Jack, Welcome! We're glad you decided to post. We do have a few users of Asian descent who pop in once in a while so you may not be one of many but your not alone. Long hair being exceptionally rare in your part of the world makes you all the more unique.

Thanks for the response and you are certainly correct about the uniqueness part and i'm so glad i have chosen this path. I have never felt so attuned to life.
You've got an observant eye :).Yeah, thats my classical guitar. I'm into heavy metal,post-rock and listens to a lot of celtic folk music and basically music with traditional instruments. How about you?
I listen to A variety of different kinds of metal music. bands
like korpiklaani, Turisas, Apocalypitca, Corvus Corax, Enseferum,
Novembers Doom, Emperor, Immortal, etc. etc.
I particularly like a lot of Corvus Corax stuff with their medieval instruments they use.

Cool!i used to listen to alot of the folk metal band you mentioned especially Korpiklaani and their unique polka-ish sounding music.
but nowadays i just listen to mostly progressive and atmospheric stuffs like Opeth and Agalloch,Wolves in the Throne Room and Alcest.
Will be sure to check out on Corvus Corax. Glad we share something in common other than growing out our hair :))

Hi Jackson Kang, welcome to the mlhh!I've always felt Asian men as well as women grew out the most fantastic hair.You Asian guys are so lucky to be blessed with such beautiful hair should you decide to grow it out to a very long length.I definately encourage you to go for that goal length you mentioned.Now how awesome would that look on you:)I admit being jealous to a degree but I'm glad you decided to be a longhair my friend.Cheers

Thank you so much for your nice introduction and taking that bold leap of faith that we don't bite here (well, other than biting our own hair in our sleep or whenever maybe desperately hungry)!
Your hair looks TERRIFIC!!! The city I live in has a lot of Asians, especially a large Chinese population (the most famous Chinatown in the USA, in fact). I know of one Asian "mega-longhair" here in town, in fact, a guy named Wes, who also happens to be in a musician in a local Swing band called "City Swing"... I don't know his specific racial background (although I believe he's Japanese); but in any case, he has the most incredibly beautiful butt-length hair that I have ever seen! I've known of other Asian men here in San Francisco that have grown their hair long; but unfortunately every one of them that I can think of right now cut theirs (a sad fact of life that all of us longhairs see happen all too often, regardless of race or hair type)...
Anyway, I hope you will continue to keep on growing that magnificent looking mane of yours, Jackson, as to me it looks like you have the ideal type of hair that will look hands-down AWESOME the longer and looooonger it gets!

I am so glad you decided to post. What a nice introduction and photo. Over the years, we have had a few oriental guys share their longhair experience on the board. I have always loved the blue/black sheen and natural movement of your hair type (Yes, I am jealous! Ha !)
