I'm now about 3 months into it and my hair is so thick that it's tough to manage sometimes...lots of volume and height I'd rather do without. I think a little natural thinning to accompany the gray's would have been optimal. I'm not entertaining the thought of a trim, but dang, it just seems so thick.
Looking forward to tomorrow's vinegar/water rinse...those feel so good.
It is hard for me to imagine thick hair as being a bad thing, I personally would love to increase the volume of my hair to some degree. Also to help us determine what you are experiencing more accurately it would be helpful if you posted a picture of your hair.
Being new to the board I've been trying to maintain etiquette as presented by the members. Someone posted somewhere that 6 month updates were plenty as the monthly updates are overkill. As I'm only 3 months into my hair farming from a very short haircut, I figured I'd wait until my 6 month mark to post a before and after shot. Right now my hair would just look awfully short to all of you, even though it's long to me compared to what I'm use to.
I'm having a blast growing this out, truly enjoy the care that is involved, enjoy the positive comments I receive from friends and coworkers, but don't yet feel like I fit in with the crowd here. You guys have long hair, period. I just have longer hair than I started with. I'm in it for the long haul but am still a long ways off.
Well...
I certainly wish I had your problem!! :)
Many many guys growing out their hair for the 1st time claim it to be too thick. But just wait. Once you have length, chances are extremely small that you will think your hair is too thick.
I have thick hair and know how that was an keep the faith, or else those lovely trimmers will be having a field day! Eh trimmers!
Cheers,

Hi KevinV,
It's hard for any of us to make any helpful suggestions without a pic of what you're talking about. However, here my suggestion, anyway: do NOT thin out your hair! Thinning shears can do more damage than you'd think (I had a horrible experience w/ them at the barber shop back when I was still in my late teens; so just trust me when I say that!)...
Just tough it out, if you can. You are just going through the awkward stages. Things will improve greatly once your hair gets long ewnough to have extra weight on it, and especially once you can tie it back.
