It's been about 4ish yrs. since I started my Hair Journey and I've about reached my goal. I'm thinkin a couple more inches in the back is about all I can manage. It is alread getting tugged and pinched between the back of my wheelchair and shoulder blades. A ponytair helps, but I prefer to wear it free.
Well, Let It Grow & Flow!
Frank
That's some great hair, waves and colour!
Imho what a shame would it be if you'd start trimming instead of growing it further, maybe wearing it flipped in front of your shoulders more would solve it saving the tugging and pinching primarily for special occasions.
Thanks for the kind words Twistofchaos. The hotplate and toaster oven door are trouble when the hair hangs in front, more length just adds more troubles of the hair getting singed.
Frank
Hey Frank, it's been awhile since you've posted here -- great to hear from you!!
Your mane looks hands-down AWESOME!!!! Being a mega-long hair fan myself, I hope you'll reconsider the idea of cutting it after a few more inches of growth, and just let it grow and flow until the planets stop in their orbits and the stars fall out of the sky. But, I do understand the concept of "practicality" -- and occasionally have considered not allowing my own hair to grow any longer myself.
Being in a wheel chair, it probably goes without saying that safety would require you to be careful not to have any loose long hair get near any moving parts that might catch it. My favorite way to wear my hair is definitely loose also; but the vast majority of times when people see me out in public, it is usually tied back into a tail, a bun, or braid. That's the price I guess that I have to pay for wanting to continue growing my mane out longer, yet keeping my job!
In any case... your update pic looks GREAT!!!!

Thank you Ken, I appreciate your thoughts. It is amazing how much loose hair gets wound around the axils over time.
Frank
Even if you are getting near the end of the growth, your hair looks really good with all those curls. Try pulling one straight and let go; it will go boing. I did not know that you are in the wheelchair till this post.
Matthew
Hi Matthew, yes I've been in a wheelchair since 1978 due to a motorcycle accident. Hope all is well with you.
Frank
Hey Frank.
Your mane is looking pretty awesome! I really like the curls. It must have taken a lot of dedication to get to the length you're at now. 4 years certainly is impressive. I'm glad you've reached your goal length.
Thanks for the update!
Luke.
Thank you Luke. When I turned 50 4years ago, I thought I better do it now while I still can, I kind of like the way it looks myself.
Frank
Frank;
Absolutely stunning !!
I have followed your impressive journey since you have joined us. Truly Inspirational....Congratulations on nearly reaching your goal.
Thanks for Sharing
Walter
Thank you Walter, and I hope you find some warm sunshine days soon.
Frank
Looks wonderful Frank and there MUST be a way around that wheechair. Perhaps attach a piece of cardboard to the back of the chair where the hair can be allowed to flip upwards and thus allow you to grow longer without fear of getting stuck. Take care and all the best-
Justin~
Thank you Justin, I've let it go a little longer that I had planned in the begining, and with my Nurse Aid and Sister, I'm skating-on-thin-ice as they say because they take care of my hair. I'm trying to stay on their good sides.
Frank
Hi Frank,
I have to say your hair is just awesome!I spite of it all you must be proud of your accomplishment. It would be interesting to know what terminal length would be for you but I understand the hazard of getting your mane caught in the moving parts of the wheelchair. Some already suggested ways to prevent the pulling and tugging and I hope you give it a shot.Still your current length is fantastic my friend:)Cheers
Mark
Still your current length is fantastic my friend:)Cheers
Thank you Mark. I may have given terminal length a shot if I were up walking, but as it is and me without the use of my hands to take care of it, I'm pretty happy with the length. The best part, my care givers aren't griping yet. :-)
Frank
Great looking photos there. Liking the curly waves.
Thank you Charlie.
Frank
Grrrrrrreat looking hair, Frank!
You are reaching your goal very nicely.
Thanks for the update.
- Oren
Thank you Oren.
Frank
Wow! Your hair looks great, Frank.
Given how curly it is, I'd imagine it reaches close to your waist when wet. I know how annoying it can be when your hair gets caught between you and the seat back, but when your hair looks that good, you don't really want to hide it in a tail or braid.
Thanks for sharing.
Thank you Viking. The hairs not quite to the waist, near bottom of rib cage, maybe. I generally have it in a tail when going out and even then gets snaged at times. O the joys of long hair!
Frank
I know exactly what you mean. Wouldn't be without it though!
Hi Frank,
It is great to hear from you, and thank you for sharing such a fantastic update with us. Congratulations on getting close to your goal, and what an outstanding mane of curly hair you are blessed with.
Take care,
David
Thank you David for the kind words.
And all the best to you.
Frank
Hi!
Congratulations to your length!
Your hair has awesome color, thickness and texture!
// Jim
Hello to you Jim and thank you for the compliments.
Frank
-----------------------------------------------
Your hair is gorgeous, Frank. It is really thick and full. It would be nice to be able to get past the point where it gets caught between your back and the wheelchair but that would require you going through quite a bit of pain to get there. For you, that may not be practical, and your hair looks super at its current length. Looking good.
Scott
Thank you Scott, I'm trying to picture your length of hair on me, I might really have a few issue if that were the case. Your hair is truly impressive.
Frank
Well, Scott would certainly envy you, since you would have attained something he has only dreamed of. Your hair would drag the ground!
Great thick curly mane you have there, Frank.
Bill
-----------------------------------------------------
Hey Bill, actually mid calf would be about the most that I could handle. Greater length than that would cause problems. It currently reaches the back of my knees. For bike riding, I have to secure it to keep it away from moving parts. See photo.
Scott
looks great Frank! That is some awesome length you have there sir! did you get any trims along the way?
Thanks alot Mark, Trims (we won't say that to loud), yes, forgive me, I took off 1/2" of the longest hair in the back about 2 yrs ago. Guess that might be an ongoing thing in the future. But don't tell the other fellows.
Frank
Frank,
That's a great looking head of hair. I really like the wave it has to it. Very cool.
Thank you very much Kevin.
