I have long hair and I am losing my hair on the top and front. Does anyone know what you can do to have more hair? Would hair extensions work?
How old are you?
If you have the onset of 'male pattern baldness' then there is a strong possibility that you will lose most if not all of your top and front. I know. I've been there. The other disadvantage of 'male pattern baldness' is that the terminal length reduces, so the maximum length of your hair is reduced. Mine is about two inches shorter than nipple length and has not grown in five years.
What to do?
Many claims are made for Propecia for people just starting to lose top and sides, BUT there are many concerns over taking something that alters your hormones in the long term.
A wig or the kind of extension which you clip onto your hair as required are possibilities (look in the archive and search the index for other people who have experience of this). The other possibility which I am looking atmyself is the kind of extension where indiviual lengths of hair are added to your own individual hairs. Obviously as those individual hairs fall out, a re-extension would be necessary up to three times a year.
Keep us posted on what you decide to do and how successful (or otherwise it is). The information will be very helpful to others.
And there is always the possibility that you haven't got the onset of 'male pattern baldness' so most of what I've said doesn't apply to you.
I had and have the same problem. I decided to not let myself be bald and have worn a hairpiece for 10 years now. I must tell you its a commitment to keep it looking good and to always have new ones made so no one can tell. I always have people stop me and compliment my hair!
