This might not be for everyone, but I just discovered something called a "sock bun." A couple of weeks ago, I saw a flight attendant on an airplane with her hair in a perfect, round bun. I asked her how she managed to makes such a perfect bun and she said it was a sock bun. So when I got home I searched on YouTube for "how to make a sock bun." There are several videos explaining how to make one. There are a couple of difference techniques. Here is a pic of my hair in a sock bun, taken yesterday. All it requires is a ponytail elastic and a sock with the end cut off. That's it -- no hairpins or anything. It feels very comfortable, by the way.
Very neat looking, Jann. I've always liked that style. My hair is a bit too short for it these days, though. I used to wear a French twist and a tucked French braid a lot when I wore it that long, though. Thank goodness for YouTube.
OMG, Jann, that sock bun looks HUGE!!!!!!!
Here's a pic of my average "quick bun".... I just twist the hair around and around like a tornado about to strike Kansas, then quickly coil it and keep it together w/ a hair tie. It's not uncommon for me to be able to make one of these while waiting at a traffic light, ready to go with bun intact when the light turns green...
I'll check out YouTube to see how to make a sock bun, and then probably give it a try myself -- although I'm not so sure I'd want to wear a bun that huge out in public... it looks almost the size of a Princess Lea bun!!!!
