I've lived in this northside neighborhood of Richmond for quite a while, but haven't really payed attention to this until a few years ago now that I've grown my hair out...but this neighborhood is LOADED with longhairs!
Today the weather was nice, and many people were out and about. The two longhairs I know personally, my back-door neighbor, and across the street neighbor, but just today, I have seen several more that I haven't even met. While sitting on my front porch, I saw at least 3 men walk down the street that had longer than average hair. I drove to the hardware store, and saw two more men mowing grass...shoulder length hair. My neighbor is building an addition, and he got some friends down the street to help him framing. All were longhairs. This evening, the paper route kids came delivering new phone books, and the boy, about 10 years old or so had long hair. Dunno if it's just because I notice long hair more now, but it seems like longhaired guys I saw around here were the norm, not the exception.

Uh-oh, this sounds like a disturbing side effect to growing long hair. Eventually, once your hair gets long enough, everything you see will look like it has long hair, even goldfish. You have to cut it all off, or this condition that causes hallucinogenic visions will consume you.
Just kidding man. But seriously, this is great that you live in an area with so many longhairs. At least the amount jeers you may get will probably be at a minimum, as most of the people are surrounded by friends who are longhairs and are not likely to make your hair such a major issue.
Sometimes it seems I go for weeks without seeing any long-haired guys, and just when I least expect it I'll see one or more in a short time. With spring approaching there's sure to be more than a few long hairs making an appearance!
By the way there's a young mother who shops at the local grocery store with her little daughter; they both have waist length hair. Imagine my surprise when I saw the whole family together the other day.. Dad has a long ponytail too! Nearly to his waist. What a cool family!
