here's a front picture. i had my last shave on 3rd December and am happy with the 4th month old beard which i will grow out for 12 months and see how it looks. i would like to request this new picture for my avatar to replace the old one which was taken ages ago.

Hi David, Thanks for the thumbs up and the nice comments. My goal is to reach 45cm by Xmas 2010 and grow to at least 60cm or 2 feet + if it's in the hair genes.

Awesome duncan. Good luck getting your hair to your goal, and maybe it'll change when you get there. Also, Im a big fan of the beard. I've got a goatee, its all I can grow. And yeah, its a crappy 16 year old goatee, but its MY crappy 16 year old goatee :)

Thanks for your nice feedback on the beard. I remember when I was 16 I couldn't even grow a goatee to save myself so for an age of just 16 years that still looks a respectable effort for a beard there Jarvis! And yes whatever we grow is uniquely ours and no one else's. I do expect my hair length goals will evolve as the mane grows longer. Initially I'm looking at a goal of 45cm or 18 inches long when I started growing back in 2008, but would ultimately love to have hair in the two feet long + only if the hair genes can grow that long. Also having naturally fine hair with a tendency to tangle in the last inch on the ends which are prone to getting dry makes it a bit more effort to keep in good condition. But I don't want to tempt the wrath of the hair gods so will only do modest goals one bit at a time and stay humble and deeply appreciate what I have so far achieved.LOL.

Thanks for the thumbs up on the hairy growth - I'd probably let the Beard do it's thing for the next 12 months as I have never had a lengthy beard before and it would be fun to see how it turns out. Who knows I may find work as an extra in a Viking or Pirate film one day! I have checked out already the Beard Community forum already and may buy that book about Beards some guy there wrote about as I started collecting hair-related reference / history books recently.

I'm jealous -- I keep trying to grow my own beard out; but then whenever i get it to a certain point where I'm just starting to like it, a herd of goats start chasing after me every time, thinking I'm their long lost relative... either that, or kids start asking me for Christmas presents [sigh]...
in any case, I hope you keep BOTH your hair and beard looooooong and forever flowing!!

Yes one day with a full beard and long white hair we might start to get confused with being old goats! of course kids are the young goats LOL
