I just recently had a friend helpy me trim off about a centimeter's worth of growth in the back of my hair around the nape of the neck and man what a difference it made to get rid of all those wirey, coarse and dry ends...and they were all in the back.
I think it had something to do with the fact that this was/is the very first time my hair has been allowed to grow this long; the hair in the back felt liberated and decided to go nuts trying to grow hence all the wirey-ness...
Still, I'm having trouble keeping all my hair in a neat ponytail--I give it a couple more months.
By the way, I'm an asian guy with a wave to my hair. To all you people in the awkward stage: take my advice and just hang in there. You don't know how many times I wanted to just give in myself.
This is very true. When I was in the awkward stage, my hair was a total uncontrollable disaster and I took a lot of flack for it. I did hang in and it was definately worth it and I love my hair.
U should be able to put your hair into a ponytail real soon. For me it was a year (7 inches of growth) when I was able to put a lot of my hair into a ponytail. It looks neater that way-all u gotsta do is slick back everything with water or gel and it stays put (even on rainy days). This has helped me through the awkward stage for 9 months now.
