For those of you with a hippie bent and a love of wildflowers, at the link below are photos we took on our recent trip in quest of springtime California wildflowers. (Sorry, no photos were gotten of any desert rats with white tails.)
We had to go through quite a bit of snow to get there, so don't be surprised to see a bit of that at the beginning.

Road Trip in Quest of Wildflowers
What an amazing you trips you guys had! Thanks for sharing all the photos. It's incredible to see such natural beauty. I want to visit those places!
Just fly into Las Vegas. Most of it is quite close to there. Just be sure to go the first week of April! Yeah, it is really awesome then.
Bill
Wow..........what fabulous photos Bill and so glad you were able to make this wonderful trip. Photos were so good that I doubt my "Crayolas" would have been any match. Perfect the way they are.
Take care-
Justin~
Ever notice how hard it is to pick colors that go together when you paint your house, and how effortless Mother Nature does it with her flowers?
Bill
Bill, Really great pictures. I have been to most of those places and am saving your album. I used to live at Elizabeth Lake which is right next to the Poppy Preserve. Thanks, Tommie
I think we ran up that way last year. Had lunch in a bar by the lake. I recall it had a stone-building look to it.
Bill
Hi Bill,
Thank you for sharing these awesome photos of such a fabulous road trip, and yes, I WAS surprised to see that snow!
Hopefully, one day, I WILL get to your part of the world, I promise, and I only wish it weren't so far away from where I live.
Thank you for sharing,
David
The California Contingent of MLHH still looks forward to your arrival in the Golden West! This state has more variety than any I've ever seen. You'll have a great time here.

Hi Bill, it looks like you and Larry had a great trip. Death Valley is beautiful in Spring. I really liked Pinnacles National Monument as well. I want to visit Pinnacles some time for sure.
I sent you a link regarding that mystery plant. Here it is. I also sent you an e-mail regarding it as well.

That Wikipedia page you linked had photos of the plant in two places, one being in the Mojave Desert near where we saw it, and the other being in a park in the county of my birth in Illinois. What a coincidence! And I had never noticed it back in Illinois!

Hi Bill,
Hey, I just finished looking at your entire photo album in one sitting and have to say the time flew by!You guys take the most fabulous pictures as I was able to get a good idea what your journey was like. What a cool road trip as you did so much in that time frame. It's amazing the views the west has to offer as the east is sooo way different. We had a mini heat wave here around a week ago and it just started making everything bloom out!You can also tell by that green pollen you get on your car if its sits any period of time.A couple days and no matter what color your car is its green now!LOL.I would have loved to comment under some of your pictures with quick thoughts if it were possible. In particular liked that radio museum as I noticed all those Vibroplexes in the showcase.I actually have one of those that belonged to my Uncle back in the day when he was a Ham.Anyway thanks for posting that link as it was a blast to sift through.Say Hello to Larry for me also:)I'm planning on visiting your area again next month.
Mark
All that snow was an interesting beginning for what we set out for, a wildflower trip!
Hey, that beats Iceland and Europe, where gray is the new green....
That opens up the can of worms called "moderation", and I'm sure you know why we did not opt for that! [grin]
Interestingly, I never could learn to use a bug. I just never had the coordination. My old straight key from 1962 is still on the table behind me in this room. I got up to about 22 WPM on it in my fastest days, which is also about as fast as I could ever copy.
By all means, look us all up! Again we could do Duartes. Or we could do something in the city this time.
Bill
Hi Bill,
WOW, those pics are AWESOME!!!! I'm at work right now; so, only had time enough to look them over a bit quickly -- but I saw them ALL (and will look them over more thoroughly and read all the comments when I'm back home on Tuesday)... Really really gorgeous scenery and wildflowers -- and am so glad to hear you finally got to meet up w/ Walter!
Anyway, talk to you later, Bill... And thanks so much for sharing these pics!!!
(With virtual poppies in his hair!),
Ken
Yeah, Ken, it was an awesome trip. The scenery and ever-changing nature of it was mesmerizing, and we had a lot of fun, too!
Bill
Yesterday, I made a pot of coffee, sat next to my fireplace and went through every photo...it took a couple of hours !
Fantastic !!
A what a pleasure it was to meet you and Larry on Easter Day.
Thanks for Sharing
Walter
Just beautiful!
Glad you two had a wonderful trip.
We're having quite a nice show of wildflowers here in Texas this season. Right now Bluebonnets, and "Prickly Poppies" (Argemone albiflora) are at their peak.
