Validus recently indicated a link on the trustworthiness of bearded men. I just found a rather fun picture resuming the thing :-D Apparently my trustworthiness is questionnable, haha.
Someone to do this about the hairstyles ?
Vivien
Trustworthiness of beards
In that case I'm very to mildly trustworthy lol!
I bet you somewhere someone has done a study about hair lengths but I've not found it yet.
Cheers,
John.B
LOL, that's a hilarious chart to look at, Vivien! Thanks for sharing it -- and thanks also to Validus for the previous original thread on this topic.
I'm thrilled to see that my beard / sometimes-goatee is in the category off to the far left, apparently "very trustworthy" (cough cough -- I guess I've succeeded at fooling everybody then - LOL).... And even if I do grow my beard out super-long, I'll still be in the same category as Santa! Bill and Oren should be very happy to see that their beards are of the same length as Santa; so they are obviously in the most trustworthy category also. And I'm sure they were VERY worried about this issue, prior to seeing this official chart (dripping a bit w/ sarcasm, aren't I? - LOL)....
Interesting to notice that to the farthest right of that chart is the infamous Hitler-style mustache; plus just next to him, only one icon over to the left, is the clean-shaven look. Hmmmm... OK guys, time for all you smooth-faced folks to start growing some hairs on your chin. That includes any of you 13 and 14 year olds out there, -- and the women, too!! Let's all become Facial Hair Fundamentalists and fanatics about following this chart to the T. After all, we don't want to have any "threatening", "dangerous", "unsavory", or even "questionable" characters be a part of our MLHH community, now do we? (LOL)

My beard is sometimes off to the far left, and sometimes it is off to the far right. It depends on which way the wind is blowing.
Bill
Bill
And what would Dr. Freud say about this kind of wishy-washy political indecisiveness? Don't blame the wind: allowing your beard to blow both to the left, and then to the right, means that you have a deep subconscious desire to swing with Obama one minute; but with George Dubya the next... It all stems from early childhood, I'm sure!
I think in my next life, I want to become a highly-paid unlicensed quack-therapist -- I think I'd totally LOVE giving out bad advise like the above!!
- Ken
His beard was far too short for him to ever comprehend the full range of beard political expressiveness!
Bill
...And the parting on the left, Are now parting on the right
And the beards have all grown longer overnight...
We won't get fooled again!
Long lox n beards forever,
- Oren
The closest one to me is the Colonel Sanders lol.
Jarvis
That's funny Vivien! I guess seeing as how I shave, that makes me Dangerous!
Muahahahahahaha!!!
The message is clear. Bin Laden is trustworthy, Apollo Anton Ono needs to be on the no-fly list. :)
The previously scheduled lurking will now resume.
Oh for cryin out loud are you serious?! Of course Bin Laden isn`t trustworthy! I`m quite positive what Vivien posted is there purely for comedic purposes.
Sheesh! Some people really need to get a sense of humor!
Luke.
Well there yea go the wise old sage postings from the lower west side :-)!
And, n/t means the subject line is all that matters... except of course this explanation for those who aren't familiar with the n/t custom on this board.
I'm sorry man, I completely missed the smiley face. I thought you were actually being serious there, I guess its hard to tell sometimes if someone is joking when just reading a computer screen.
I hope you understand and I hope you forgive me for my comment.
My bad.
Luke.
I agree with what Luke just said there. Attempts to make facial expressions with ASCII are sometimes not seen, and other times the writer and reader have different interpretations of what is there. To avoid that problem, personally I just spell any emotion out, then there's no doubt. [smile]
Truthfully, except for the colon and parenthesis for a smile, and the semi-colon and a parenthesis for a wink, none of the others people attempt mean anything to me at all.
Just today, another user and I at gaylonghair.com misunderstood each other for this same reason, so this is not a rare problem.
Bill
Thanks for backing me up Bill. I guess that's the one down side to chat forums, misunderstandings like this are more frequent than in real life conversations.
I wasn't trying to be rude to Steve, I simply responded to his post as I interpreted it, and I came off quite outspoken.
Its funny because for being a 17 year old teenager, I'm sadly quite illiterate when it comes to computer lingo and whatnot. Smilies completely pass me by. I also find it easier to just simply state your emotions on any forum to avoid confusion. LOL (I know that one!)
Luke.
Oh yes he is! You're just not asking what you trust him to do. We can absolutely trust Osama Bin Laden to blow people up!
I interpreted the sarcasm right away.
(grin)
Well, you being the President of this forum Kevin, you obviously have come to know all the users and their individual personalities. The sarcasm was easier for you to detect because you're better able to recognize it.
I've only been posting here since August and still don't know everybody yet. I guess I'm still getting used to everyone. Steve's sarcasm simply eluded me.
I apologize again for my mistake and hope I don't repeat it in the future.
Luke.
I kept looking for this smiley face you referred to; but, no find...
Looking, looking, looking, looking...
(I had no trouble catching the sarcasm, however, as I grew up with a father whose ONLY method of communication was with sarcasm; so, no problem there! - LOL)
"But where in the hell is this stupid smiley face Steve referred to?", I kept asking myself...
And then, by accident, I tilted my head sideways a little...
"Ah! There it is -- at least I think so... Maybe this is why I never became a brain surgeon." (By the time I finally found the damn smiley face, anybody's brain I would have been operating on would have turned to gardening mulch by now.)
Amazing how many odd & quirky things one can learn by coming here -- will wonders ever cease!!!!
- Ken
PS - And now to find out who the hell Apollo Anton Ono is...
Maybe because I spelled it wrong. Turns out it's:
Apolo Anton Ohno
--Steve
He's a speed skater
Whew,I'm sooooo relieved I made the good list with my goatee and stash:)If guys take this seriously I them can hear all those beard trimmers humming as I type this!lol.Kind of wonder what the head hair version of this would look like???Would the buzz cuts be right up there with the Hitler stash?Inquiring minds want to know:)
Mark
I would think that unkempt long hair would probably rank as the most untrustworthy, but hey I could be wrong. It would be interesting to see where well maintained long hair falls on the spectrum. But yeah those guys with buzz cuts do look rather unsavory in my eye, having at least a inch + of hair really makes you look alot, well younger in my eyes, dunno about trustworthiness though.
Trust me.
TBH I would totally trust you if I saw you on the street looking like you do in this pic.
OH Oren, Oren. This is really beginning to look quite disturbing. Please shave.
Meh - The combined feeling of long hair brushing one's back and of a long beard brushing one's nips is a sensual pleasure that few men ever enjoy in a lifetime.
Gone are the lame black and white days sh*ving - rust in peace razor!
Benny, I hope that both your wonderful long locks and your music venture are growing happily.
- Oren
So looks like I made the good list.
Hummmm............
