Hi, I've messaged here before to show my progress and awe at some of the hair X]
But I'm posting for something else this time. My hair always gets greasy, and I've been having this issue for a while. When I wash my hair, it's relatively clean. This is at night, say, around 7 PM. I go to bed once it dries and wake up with it being slightly greasy. So, already through the night it's gotten some what greasy. Well, it's acceptable if I brush it, where it looks fine (I use an old boar's brush so it sweeps the oil around better). Towards the night however, it's actually quite greasy, and if I don't wash my hair that night, it'll be embarrassing to show in public the next day. I don't wash my hair every day because I don't go out everyday, but I'd like to have clean hair for more than half a day. I also have an issue with dandruff...
I know a lot of you will recommend cutting down on the shampoo, but you see, I have done that, and to a massive degree. I went on the no poo thing for two months. After two months was it clean? -no, it was an abhorring greasy mess. Summer's coming up for me, and I'll be out of school for around 2 and a half months, so I'm willing to try a couple things out... And FYI, I've tried many shampoo's + conditioners, no matter which, the same result occurs.
I thought by adding a picture, I would have an avatar. Well, that picture I posted isn't relative to anything. It is me though.

As far as your problem, you might wanna ditch the conditioner for a while. I tried that when my hair got really greasy, and it helped a little bit.
As for a shampoo, you probably just haven't found one that suits your hair. Keep looking, you should find one that reduces your grease. Avoid anti-dandruff shampoos, they only worsen things.
Sorry I can't be of more help, but there's my advice. Good luck.
Luke.

That's why it looks so nice; it's so moisturized. I understand it's not a perfect situation, but the first thing I thought is, it could be worse - be thankful in a way, I guess - you could have hair that's thin, dry, brittle, balding and ugly. If all you have to do is wash it to have it be gorgeous, that's not too bad.
That's my thoughts. I'll leave it to others to advise about the dandruff & such. ;p
I have greasy hair and wash about 5 out of 7 days a week. I don't much care for the greasy look. So go and wash it and use conditioner
Try washing it in the morning as well.

I have the same problem. It looks nasty before even a day has gone by. I just shampoo it if I'm going out and need to look presentable. At least you have thick, dark hair. Fine, light hair shows up the grease even more.
tell me about it!
I think we all have different kinds of hair and what looks greasy or thin and dank to some of us who have it (i.e. me) also looks long & silky to others - and those who have thick, messy, strawlike and who hate it and worry - looks healthy and gorgeous to us who dont have it - and vice versa
What I'm trying to say is all of us have different 'everything' and we shouldnt worry cos someone out there will like you as you are. I find with this long silky (to me greasy) hair if I wash it, it goes mental after a day (static, yeah yeah we got they classes at school) but if I dont it looks fab after 4 days or longer.. and no-one notices the difference and if they did do I care?? They are worrying about something too in their life - so - stop worrying?!?! :)
Re: My hair always gets greasy!?
there's nothing wrong with silk, its just a wee bit delicate
stop worrying and get to the pub and have fun!
Don't really know what to say other than cutting down on the shampoo. Worked for me, I use it like once every week and a half max. Yeah, my hair gets greasy, but just shake it around a little and you can't notice it. Thats my hair though, I don't know about you.
As for other ideas, try washing in the morning, even just water wash takes the oil away. Just wash hot then rinse cold.
Another thing you could try is towel dry more, the towel will take some of the grease.
sing a hairdryer takes some away too. I know a lot of people on this board say that the hairdryer will dry out and damage your hair, but I use it almost everyday for about 6-7 minutes with hot and high, then 3-4 minutes with cold and high. It actually makes my hair softer, smoother, and easier to brush than the days I don't use it.

I have had a similar experience, right now my shoulder length hair requires being washed every other day with shampoo otherwise it gets oily, and even so it is fairly oily on the 2nd day. I too tried no-poo, for 10 weeks I washed my hair every other day, water only, it didn't work out at all, I tried cutting back on shampoo when I did go back to using it, but ended up realizing that my hair simply wouldn't be relatively clean without a good shampooing every other day. I have a fair amount of acne (not just the occasional spot that people whine about), that requires an antibiotic and a morning and nightly topical to control, so I am a pretty overall oily teen. Perhaps when your hair gets to be longer you will have less issues with oil, I have found that to be the case with my hair, since there is more hair for it to be distributed across.
I wish you the best of luck in keeping your hair in a condition that satisfies you - Ryan.
Hello Lucjan !
If you can treat the symptoms (the greasiness of your scalp), maybe you can find the cause, and treat it. For example, you can look if what you usually eat doesn't make your scalp produce more oil than it should.
By the way, your hair is really nice =)
Good luck

I agree... you are what you eat, so make sure you eating a healthly diet. No sugary sodas, cut down on over processed foods. More vegys, more water!

I'm a Vegan, and eat relatively healthy. It's not the quality of my hair that I have trouble with, it's the amount of oils I produce.
Have you tried doing a WO wash in the interim? Thats what I do, since my hair gets greasy fast. Wash with shampoo etc one day, next day I wash with water. I could probably make it another day without washing if I had really wanted to. Honestly, this just seems like a scheduling problem. Shower in the morning, ensure you wash your hair with water really thoroughly- whatever. Its unlikely you have such an oily scalp that you legitimately need to shampoo everyday. Though on the chance that it is, a better diet I've heard helps somewhat.
Have you tried Dry Shampoo?
What I do is wash it one night and then dry shampoo it the next! Ask at your pharmacy for more info! I highly reccommend it!!
