Last year I hardly got any tangles on my hair ends, now that my hair is even longer im starting to run into that problem a lot and other than a pony tail, is there any other way to keep my ends from tangling so much?
Maybe not the answer you are looking for but maybe it helps.
I use multiple ties if I don't want tangles. I use it always while sporting. I also went camping for one week and when I came home and took a shower there were almost no tangles only a lot of shed hairs.
Lately I'm experimenting with buns instead of multiple ties, I started with that when I picked up wall climbing. Don't want my hair caught in something.
Last option is braiding your hair, I don't wear braids a lot but they reduce tangles.
I think that one of the reasons that it tangles more as it gets longer is that the ends get drier and more damaged as they get older. They're more likely to velcro together if the hair shaft is rougher. Even though I have oily hair, the greasy part is nowhere near the ends, so I rub a little jojoba oil in when it's wet. If I don't wash my hair (and lube the ends) for a few days, the tangles seem to get worse each day.
I have the same problem. I usually notice it gets worse the more split my ends are. At the moment I have about 2 inches of split ends so the tangles are a b**** every time I comb my hair...
I agree that you should oil the ends everyday or add a little bit of conditioner to them as they're older so they're bound to be rougher by default. I follow Vincent's suggestions but my tangles are still there - the only way I got to reduce my tangled hair was to condition and comb my hair when wet every 2 days. If I leave it any longer, my hair automatically dreadlocks.
Hope that helps :)
I had that problem all the time too. I think from rollong around on my sholders and blowing in the wind. I've been wearing it in a bun lately, actually, which you might not want to do, but I'll tell ya, I can put it up in a minute or so and it has ALOT less tangles. Besides, you could hold it up with chopsticks if you wanted! Or hair sticks, or a pencil! I'm trying that next! Lol!
I also have noticed more tangling as it's gotten longer. Now that it's warmer weather I like riding with the sunroof and window open and blowing around it gets way more that way. Been trying tying it in a tail, but I guess I was canine in a previous life and like the air in my face and mane. LOL.
I noticed the same thing when my hair got to a certain length.
The best way to prevent tangles for me at least is to put my hair in a braid all the time. Sometimes I'll just pony it during the day, but I'll still at least sleep in a braid. It helps a lot
