Hey guys, first time poster here!
I've been growing my hair for about 2-2.3 years or so, and I was wondering how often do you guys get a cut to fix the broken hairs?
I also see alot of people with hair shorter than me, and they can put their hair in a ponytail without the hair that grows from the falling out (which is what is happening to me), how do they do that? :P
I used to wash my hair everyday, but I think I'm noticing that if I don't get it wet/wash it everytime, it's less greasy and is more wavy. How come? Also, I'm going to start using conditioner soon, any tips/advice?
Thanks for your time! :D
Well for the trimming, as long as you take good care of your hair you shouldn't really need a trim too often, maybe an inch off the end after like 2 years if you've been good to it, its up to you though, if you think your hair looks bad at the ends then a trim might be in order, if you think your hair in general looks bad well then that probably has nothing to do with split ends (unless you really put it through hell and back).
Glad to hear you are having a better time with fewer washes, I personally shampoo my hair every other day, I have experimented around and found that's pretty much the ideal for me, but others (mostly curly haired people), find much less frequent shampooing/washing to be ideal. Also conditioner is definitely a must, I use it with shampoo every other wash day, basically you should use conditioner on your ends if they seem dry.
Not sure quite what you are asking when you say that your hair seems to come out of your ponytail. Do you mean that when your hair is in your ponytail some of it comes out over the course of the day, causing you to have to retie it in place, or do you mean that when you take off your ponytail hairs get pulled out? The second is normal, but the first thing I mentioned shouldn't happen, you may consider tying your ponytail tighter by wrapping it around one more time. If your tail is too tight then (hurts) then I would recommend trying out a different kind of hair tie, some hair ties will be too loose with 2 wraps and too tight with 3, you want one that ends up just right.
Good luck.
Hey, thanks for the quick response + advice! :)
With my ponytail it falls out mostly because of a strong wind from the right(wrong? :O) angle or too much head movement :(
I got my tie pretty tight at the moment, so I think I'll just have to grow my hair some more (which won't be a problem! :D).
Cheers
Yeah added length will help lengthen the "buffer zone" hah, I am experiencing that problem right now, my hair is just long enough so the bangs will get into a good normal (not high) ponytail and stay put, but they still will come out after awhile.
Hair breakage is natural cutting won't stop it.
Here's a link with a lot of helpful info, have a read through.
