Hey everyone :-)
Yesterday I had the unique pleasure of meeting our great long time MLHH member (as well as moderator) Walter Slack in the beautiful seaside town of Astoria Oregon. And, how honored I was to be meeting this especially fine and unique gentleman for the 2nd time!
Despite the weather being more like a cold Winters' day, the very warmth of a personality like Walters' I dare say could melt a glacier. He is an absolute delight in every possible way and has the greatest sense of humor. And on top of that, when it comes to intelligence, perhaps the closest one could come to Einstein himself! (Start up ANY subject with Walter and he is sure to know something about it, or even MORE than you do.) Absolutely amazing!
We had a great time seeing some of the sights of this famous Pacific N.E. historic town and took a ride on the quaint vintage Trolley along the warf bordering the mouth of the Columbia River where the most magnificent vessels ever can be seen as well as WA. State 5 miles across the river with its fabulous array of mountains.
Walter took me to the neatest restaurant which overlooked the Columbia, and it was there that we indulged in a most scrumptus luncheon that one could imagine. The hospitality of this man is sure to be legend to anyone who has ever had the privilage of meeting him.
Such a rare individual is Walter. So humble about his abilities. Everything about a human-being that should be, can certainly be found when it comes to this great man.
Walter, I will never be able to thank you enough for everything, and next time we meet in Astoria, the Lewis and Clark columns 120 steps will still be safe for the visitors to climb for that awesume 360 degree view which is simply breathtaking!
With total admiration-
Justin~

Hi Justin,
How awesome that you had the pleasure of meeting Walter in person, and such a great photo of the two of you! One of these days, I am going to meet both of you in person, and will have so much to chat about.
Take care, and thank you for sharing this photo!
David
Hi David
Yes, it was a great meet-up and if you were to ever meet Walter I am sure that there would not be a single dull moment and lots of chat. Take care-
Justin~
Hi Justin,
Awesome picture of the two of you. We all took very good care of Walter at our SF meet up so he would be left in one piece for you:)Sounds like you had a great time with our friend which has to be a record for mlhh meet ups on one vacation.I certainly have met a lot of the guys over the years and I'm thankful for that. However, I still have not met you yet and hope that can happen one day.You are a legend, my friend, as the first mlhh Prez!Well if I ultimately move to the west I will definately have that opportunity.Anyway thanks for sharing your photo and that shirt your wearing looks soooo cool:)Take care buddy and keep the faith.Cheers
Mark
Hey Mark
You have still not met me? Perhaps you should count your blessings. LOL :-)
Yes, when and if you are back out here it would be a pleasure for sure. And of that shirt.........isn't that cool! (woops, shouldn't brag, but I like crazy things like that.)
All the best-
Justin~
Hi Justin,
That's great you both met up and sounds like you both had a good time. I hope all is well at the Bayview community!
Cheers,
John.B
Hi John
Yes, it was a great meet-up and so good to see Walter again. Hey........wouldn't it be something if next time you and Kevin were out this way that Walter was here as well. What a party that would be........and all in the "Family Town!"
Take care my friend-
Justin~
Really now....all those words of praise are just a "bit" exaggerated....I'm embarrassed...(blush).
It was a wonderful day and a great visit.
I've enjoyed a lovely loop through the NorthWest...along with the beautiful sights and weather, meeting so many of the MLHH folks has been a highlight.
Getting homesick for my "Lighthouse Ranch" in the desert, so "Gandalf" (the gray Subaru) and I turn south today.
Walter
No way Walter, not exaggerated in the slighest. But yes, I know you are so modest and humble. Hey, look at this. The Column!
Hope you have a safe trip back to your home, get in the door and blunk down and relax after driving all of those miles. Whew, I could NEVER do what you can. Loved your new car and it must be a blast to drive.
Till later and thank you again for Saturday.
Justin~
We are so relieved to see Justin that you have emptied your bank account to spring Walter from the Tower of London. You must warn Walter, though, that he is not out of the woods yet. He is not far from Stonehenge! (The one that has John.B in a tizzy.)
Bill
Oh yes that's right Bill lol. Perhaps you could get the builders to come over and renovate ours in Wiltshire as it's getting a bit run down, I'm sure that would un-settle the druids later next month. :-) Imagine the outcry!
Cheers,
John.B
They did take London bridge and move it to Lake Havasu City.
We could move it to Vegas and build a hotel next to it. Just think of the millions rolling in, I bet the Druids wouldn't mind that and they could do two shows a night.
I'll ring Steve Wynn to see what he thinks.
Kevin
Hi Bill
Under this massive Column stonehenge structure is a vault with my bank account. Trouble is the rules of the land say no more diggin allowed. But, in the dark of night I sneeked-in with my shovel and got the $$$ for Walter in GOLD! (Complete with chocolate in the middle.) And thus, Walter was sprung from the tower! LOL :-)
All the best-
Justin~
Where's "The Hat"?? That's not it! Did you leave it in London?
Glad your making the rounds meeting up before your next big adventure. Too bad you all had cool weather there, it's 90 and humid here.
Kevin
No no no Kevin, Walters best hat was lost at Duarts!!! (And if you believe that, half of the moon just fell into Half Moon Bay.) But wait.......I was bestowed a "Trolley Hat!" And then they took it away. :-( Guess I'll shop Goo-Goos Toystore tonight and get the Brio Choo-choo special that comes with a 100% engineers cap that would be the envy of any tantrum throwing toddler.
Take care-
Justin~
Your really MUST tell me what drugs you take.
ROFL
Can you let me have some to and it might stop be getting dilusions about stone places lol!
