I suppose i do have split ends after all. I'll get it trimmed sometime this weekend, i think.

From your last update you hair looks fine to me and I'd let it grow for significantly longer. But it's up you...eh trimmers!
I'm a bit unsure... A few days ago when i looked in the mirror with sunlight on my hair, it looked pretty split almost everywhere. But today it looks better.
Still, trimming half an inch every 7 months can't hurt, can it?
I've got split ends and you always do get then. But I don't worry about them.
Trimming certainly won't hurt but it will take you longer to grow it! But what would I know :-)

Hairs pointing in different directions can give the illusion of split ends. The only way to tell for sure is close examination. I grab a handful of hair and look at it with a magnifing glass. (my old eyes ain't what they used to be!)
A few splits can be ignored, or you can snip them straight away. If you see quite a few then you may then want to consider a trim.
I've been 4-1/2 years, trimmed twice, only spotted a couple dozen splits in that length of time.
