An uninformed question ( I try never to ask dumb ones). Being that I now this summer have much more length than last, at times with our heat in the South it tends to get very sweaty. I have learned the trick of lifting up the hair to let the heat buildup escape. However, it seems that after getting back inside after cleanup at work and the hair dries out it gets very tangled, especially at the nape of my neck. Anyone else experience this?
Hi Charlie.
I think we have two Charlie's here, -- one from Tennessee, and you also are from the South
To answer your question, the nape of the neck is where I get most of my tangles, too. As my own hair has gotten longer and longer than ever before also, I've been finding it helpful during the day to either wear it back in a bun, or else braid it -- another similar option to that being to use multiple hair ties in a segmented ponytail. Any of the above has all seemed to help reduce the tangling problem. Regular ponytails no longer work for me anymore (that's when I get more tangles than even simply wearing it loose).
Hope the above comments have helped! And now I have to step outdoors here in San Francisco, where I have to put my sweatshirt back on this morning, because our chilly summer fog is back... Was that cruel of me to say, or what?!! (LOL)

I've noticed that phenomenon myself sometimes, and it's always made my brain hurt, because it just makes no sense.
Ditto. That's why I braid mine most of the time. Tangles at the nape are the hardest to get rid of.
To keep cool and avoid tangles, keeping my hair tied back in a multi-segment tail works best for me.
The only dumb questions are unasked ones - ask away!

Couldn't agree with you more on that one.
Great and timely question.
I also live and work in a hot area (SouthWest desert)....I find keeping my hair tied back, covered with a bandanna, under a shade hat really helps....along with a bandanna around your neck. Sweat bands also help. There are several items sold with work-wear that contain evaporation crystals that keep you cool.
At the end of the day when I shower, I usually just rinse my hair with conditioner and finger comb it....
Don't work too hard and Keep Kool !!

Hi Charlie,
I just now realized that there are NOT 2 Charlie's here; just one -- YOU!!
Your new avatar photo makes you look so different, that I honestly thought that "Charlie #2" didn't realize that we already had a "Charlie" here (the one from Tennessee).
I was surprised to learn when you posted here that "Charlie #2" was also from the South...
I'm living proof that "dumb blonde jokes" are sometimes well-deserved (LOL)!!
Congrats on the new avatar pic: your longer hair and fuller beard REALLY DO make you look like a whole different person -- and a very good-looking one at that!

No worries my friend, have a great weekend.

Hi Charlie, I use multiple hair ties on my hair. In sweaty, conditions use maybe 3" spacing between them. For you that would probably be 4 or so.
