A month ago I decided to re-grow my hair long again, and so far I'm doing well and I'm currently at 2" length now. Here's what I want to know, right now in Maryland it's very hot/sunny, and I often walk to places where I need to go; Am I risking damaging my hair with the sun beating down on my head? Should I be wearing something to protect the hair on hot sunny days?
Thanks,
PS
I don't put anything in my hair (not even shampoo).
No.
Short and sweet!
Heres in Pheonix, Az. We are always admonished to wear hats while in the sun. (It can get intense) I however, admit to never doing do. Then there is the after effect known as "hat Hair" It is a matter of conditions. your hair and your environment.
Just a quick FYI: There's a long-standing member of this community who already identifies himself here as "Jason." Please use a different tag (or add a last initial) for future posts, to help avoid confusion.
My apologies. I realized i did not place the "W" after my name after i had sent the message. 'Twill not happen again.
Thanks for the info. BTW, what exact conditions should I be worried about?
Wearing a hat in cooler weather or in Supremely hot weather can make sense. In cool weather, Humans lose a great deal of body heat through their heads. A thick mane of hair does offset that somewhat. but a hat does provide qa still airspace that traps escaping heat. In sunny warm weatherm the proper style of hat can provide shading and a "cooling" airspace. Strwa hats with an open weave gice th best cooling effects but they can snag hair and lead to tangles particularly if you perspire heavily. Hat ahir is also an after ffect // giving the wearers hair the shape of the crown of whichever hat/cap was worn. If hair is thick or curly it can give you an "eraserhead' look and if your hair is thin or straight can plaster the hair right to the scalp. both conditions are easily dealyt with. I prefer to not deal at all, so. I don't wear a hat or cap. As in so many things. a matter of personal preference.
