Hi,
I recently wanted to wear a ponytail but i noticed that hair in front of my head wasn't long enough to join the ponytail. So I thought about keeping two locks outside the ponytail(I actually separe my hair in the middle). I don't really know what to think about that hairstyle so I'm searching some neutral advices.
Ponytail options at your stage of growth include letting what doesn't reach the tail just hang loose, or using products (gel or hairspray) or pins to keep it up. I've seen both approaches used to good effect.

I always hated that kind of products but some black hair pins may be a good idea.
I've also done the "half-tail" thing. In short (pun intended) make one tail probably around the crown of your head with what fits there, and then do a second one lower down incorporating hair from the upper one.
Repeat as necessary.
Hey man! I wear my hair in a 1/2 tail a lot (pic in a thread below) and the top is not all long enough to reach the tail. Like Val said, I use gel or spray to keep it back. Whatever style you wanna do man, wear that shit & wear it proud!! After all, there's only 1 person who needs to like it! -Jason
