I'd like to thank the comments on my previous thread, great morale booster! :) I'm definitely going to let my hair grow, my next mark is to have it long enough to have it rest in front of my chest via a ponytail (hope that makes sense :P). I'll upload another picture soon with it in a ponytail, as someone requested ;)
Hi K2:)
Good thing you posted a new thread for your reply being your original one is so far down the board now. That's great to hear about you continuing your hair growth.I'll certainly look forward to seeing your ponytail pic resting on your chest.I do that a lot with mine if I'm sitting in a chair or driving otherwise my hair is being pulled all the time being sandwiched between my back and the chair I'm in.Thanks for your thanks:)Cheers my friend.
Mark
Can't wait :D your hair is my current goal length, would be cool to see what a ponytail looks like at that length
As requested! :D

Your hair looks great, Kenneth2. You have the type of hair that can be grown to waist length with a minimum of problems. What is your goal length?
Scott
Around the waist length is definitely my goal length for now, I'
m guessing that'll take a good solid 5-6 years more of growing.
Thanks for the kind words :)
5-6 years are you nuts? haha, believe me it will come alot sooner than that, otherwise your hair grows INCREDIBLY slow (or has a shorter terminal length, in which case its unlikely to make it)
-----------------------------------------
The time it takes to reach waist length depends on:
1) Growth rate. The faster it grows, the sooner to reach waist length.
2) Shed rate. The less lost to shedding, the faster you will reach your goal length.
3) Your height. The taller you are, the greater the distance from the nape of your neck to your waistline. (That distance is the same as from the bottom of your nose to your navel.) For a person of typical proportions, about 32% of height.
At 6'4" tall = 24.3"
At 5'6" tall + 21.1"
That is a 3.2" difference or about 6 months growth at 1/2" per month.
You look tall to me (my guess is maybe 6'4" or so) so waist length will take awhile. Your 5 to 6 year estimate is probably about right. From seeing your hair photo at 2 1/2 years, I would guess another 3 1/2 years for waist length, or a total of 6 years.
Scott
Yeah, total would be about 6 years, but in my previous post, I posted it would take 6 years from now on. After I posted that, I immediately thought how ridiculous that was :P
Thanks for all the calculations, I'll definitely have another good look at those soon, and thanks for the height 'compliment', but I'm only about 5"9' ^^.
Cheers, Kenneth2
Hi Scott,
I'm always amazed at how good you are with calculations like this, very impressive!
I'm wondering if age also plays a role in this -- as well as of course, the amount of physical activity a guy keeps up with, not to also mention healthy eating habits. You and I are close in age; yet you are much more physically active than I am. As I've gotten older, I don't have the same energy level that I used to have (as well as my extra weight that I'm carrying around doesn't help, either)...
When I was younger, my hair seemed to grow much faster. But I didn't have really long hair back in my teens and 20s; so I have no clue if I could have grown my hair to waist-length faster than is happening nowadays. However, during the '90s my hair got to waist-length I think a bit faster than it has after my devastating Y2K haircut -- and getting it an inch past belt-length believe it or not has taken me TEN FULL YEARS!!!
Trimming is another issue. During the '90s, I had my hair professionally trimmed approximately every 6 - 8 months or so. And the hair stylist that used to trim it would take off more than I ever requested her to do (if I said only an inch, she would always take off two).... After the Y2K cut, I decided to never go back to her. I went to a more expensive hair stylist who did EXACTLY AS I REQUESTED (and consequently the most that he ever cut off to remove split ends was no more than one inch).
In Sept. of 2007, that was the last time I had anybody else give me a professional trim (which was my partner, Even, who as you know is a dog-groomer - LOL).... For the last 3 years I've been only using the "Search & Destroy" method of chasing after my individual split ends -- so no more of the cutting off one full inch from the bottom area (which has helped me gain the belt-length that I now have)
I wish I had grown my hair out during my teens and 20s, because my guess is that I could have grown it much longer back then, as well as FASTER... Hereditarily-speaking, I have pretty good hair genetics. I had an aunt on my birth mother's side of the family who used to have knee-length hair, as well as my dad died with a full head of hair (other than some receding hairline at the temples, like I have), and my Maternal grandfather had an even better fuller head of hair hair as well.

Awesome! thanks for the pics!
