... the Cimmerian, not the talk-show host. I'm pretty excited about seeing this upcoming film (2011), starring Jason Momoa as the fantasy world's most famous barbarian. Nothing against Arnold, who I believe was the right choice for the role during the era in which he played the part, but I believe Momoa is much closer to the vision of the creator, Robert E. Howard(who described his character as "pantherish," and as being 6-feet, 2-inches tall, and weighing about 210 pounds). At any rate, it's always nice to have another long-haired hero up on the big screen!
Funny side-note: when this picture was on the computer monitor tonight, my 5-year-old daughter said in her sweet little voice, "You should be that for Halloween, Daddy!" Heheh... I guess love really IS blind :)

Good pictures, and I'm excited to see this movie come out, but who's ever seen a "clean-shaven" barbarian!?!?

He looks perfect for the part. His height is quoted as anywhere from 6'1 1/2" to 6' 4" tall. See the link.
I really like his role on Stargate Atlantis. He is a super warrior on that show.
I still wonder if his hair is real or a wig.

Thanks for sharing :-) Is anyone on commission!
Hi Val,
Cool pics of the barbarian but I also have to agree with Matt as it does look strange with his image as a warrior and being clean shaven.LOL.Maybe he's a sponsor with Gillette??You know how it is to be a big time actor or sports figure and having to do the corporate thing for them weenies!LOL.Still it will be fun seeing the picture.....maybe in IMAX??Cheers

Oh my and how ignorant. To think "Conan" was some kind of musical piece as per this video with the long haired body builder.
Last movie I saw was Edisons 1903 "Great Train Robbery!" LOL :-)

Great pics, Val!!
Regarding the comments about beards, in the original stories Conan is always noted as being clean-shaven, so they're just sticking with the traditional description.

Thanks for sharing these pics. I am super excited for the new movie, since I am a huge Conan fan. If you recall I was him for Halloween two years ago. The only thing I'm a little disappointed in is that Conan is always described as having a square cut mane. While I'm not really a fan of bangs, every drawing and description of Conan involves this, so I think it would be more true to the character.
I figured you'd be looking forward to this one, Garth, and remember well your affinity for the Cimmerian. As for the square-cut mane, I recently read a quote from the film's director regarding the hairstyle. Apparently, they actually did some concept drawings with the bangs, and they just couldn't make it look good. I think this look captures enough of the spirit of the character, that old fans and new audiences will be happy with the end result.
I'll be looking forward to your review of the film next year!
