Hey everyone. I hope you guys wouldn't mind revealing some of your knowledge and wisdom by answering the questions I have. First, is there a gel or a natural remedy or something like olive oil that will keep the frizzies at bay? Because of some... well... less-than-perfect haircare on my part, I broke a few hairs around my bangs. It's not terrible, but I'd just like to know how to keep my hair looking presentable until the broken hairs gain a few inches to weigh themselves down. For the second question, if I wash my hair 2 times in 3 days and it's just touching my shoulder blades, is there any hope for me going water-only as my hair gets longer? It's been steadily albeit slowly getting less oily since I stopped washing everyday. Thanks in advance, and keep those manes growing and flowing!
Chris.
I also have broke a couple hairs in the front. If it is very dry then I personally use VO5 hair dressing. However, a little goes a LONG ways and even what seems like a tad bit will make one's hair look greasy. I also occasionally use a little pomade to hold all the hair back when I put it in a tail. Again, less is more.
I'm sure that many of the fine gentlemen here have much better ideas, but this is what I have found to be the most help.
For the first question I am not exactly sure and am looking for something similar for when I tie my hair back since it still isn't incredibly long.
To your second question, absolutely there is hope of going water-only. I was washing my hair a ton in the beginning. Mainly to make it presentable when it wasn't weighing itself down as much. I then moved to a twice a week, but now I sometime forget about washing my hair and go a week or longer. What was once pretty greasy hair after a week now seems no different than when I was washing it daily. So, just gradually reduce your washing, and use a good a conditioner... imo a good conditioner is worth the 5 or more dollars it is compared to the cheaper grocery store model.
Goodluck.
The only natural gel I know of is egg white & water. It makes your hair stiff like gel, and is good for it.
I worked with a woman from Porto Rico in the Laborers & street pavers union who said the nicest shampoo was just taking a big aloe vera leaf & cutting it open & rubbing it all over her head. She said they grew like weeds there & it felt wonderful! She said you'd use it the same as shampoo, with water & rinsing.
