This is a part of the interview that I mentioned below. It's the part that talks about Bruce Dickinson.
GS: I interviewed Bruce Dickinson, the Iron Maiden vocalist, a few years ago when he had a new solo album coming out and I was pleasantly surprised to find you as a topic of conversation. How does he still remember you?
SJJ: I think it was just because we partied together and actually shared a lot of quiet and really pleasant time together away from the whole rock scene. He's a great guy! It also could be because I helped out on some of his solo stuff. He's been kind enough to give me some time in the studio and actually get paid for it! Hahahaha!
GS: You're a big fan of Maiden, right?
SJJ: Back then I was! I was a fan even before we met them. Even bigger fan when we got to tour with them and the Scorps! I remember when we were first starting out and we'd play Maiden cassettes in the van all the time. Big fan! I think we knew their material as well as they did.
GS: What was that like for you? Touring with those two powerful rock bands?
SJJ: I guess at the time I was just simply in awe of the whole experience. To be honest, I actually remember very little of it! Hahahaha. Between the three bands, we'd drink the host city out of alcohol every night! Hahaha. We weren´t popular enough, our band that is, for anyone to care about us anyway. Hahahahahahaha! It was really a big deal for me though, and still is. Lots of great times. We actually toured with the Scorpions twice. They invited us back. That was cool...and an honor!
GS: Share a story with us.
SJJ: Uuuuhhhhh. Nah!
GS: Awww, c'mon man. C'mon. Share a story!
SJJ: Okay...hmmmm. Well, one night we played our usual set of songs, then stuck in a Maiden cover tune. We did "Running Free". When we left the stage, they looked at us like "what the f*ck was that all about?" Hahahaha. When it was their turn to do it, they invited us back out and we all jammed together. Bruce told the crowd they'd do one of our songs, but figured they'd heard enough of us already! Hahahah. That was fun!
GS: Thank you for taking the time to talk to me, and thanks for the story!
SJJ: Thank you. Oh, and thanks for remembering us! Not many people do!
GS: Their loss, dude. Their loss!
SJJ in this interview is none other than yours truly...ME!
I dont know whether to punch you through jealousy or kiss your for simply being in Bruce's presence.
