SO my hair is not yet long enough to put all of it into a ponytail, however from my ears back it is. Since I have very thick hair, I get very hot very easily, and was wondering if putting what I can into a ponytail would help at all. Thanks.
Is the hair in front of yoir ears long enough to be slipped behind your ears? that is done by a lot of folks. My hair is itself approaching that stage, and it is also thick, Bobby pins can be used to hold sections in place as well.. A lot of guys on this board have atteated to the use of pins. Try it and see if it holds/ I may do that m'self, or just tough it out until i can gather it all together to form a tail, perhaps by next Spring.
Thanks for the suggestions Jason. Almost all of it is able to go behind the ears, only the very front of my hair isnt long enough just yet.
That's a good start....and there's always room for improvement:)
Congratulations, do keep it growing- looking good.
Cheers,
Duncan
Thanks Duncan!
As someone who is about 90% of the way to a full tail, I think if your hair feels good in a pony tail, no matter how partial, that's the way to wear it. It's your hair, enjoy it on your terms. (and it usually does help with the heat).
Thanks for the advice!
90% tail? wow your hair must have grown alot since your last update here, can't wait for your next update.
Back on topic, you should wear your hair however you like and don't let anyone tell you other wise. A halftail is perfectly fine until you can finally put it in a full tail.
I was in the same situation a month ago. I used a thin band to pull my hair back and it looked pretty good cause my hair is curly. I didn't like pulling just a little back because I found having a few strands hanging in front looked too feminine for me. Good luck, once you get all your hair back in the pony tail you are gonna be on cloud 9 :)
Thanks Ian. My main concerns at this point are keeping as cool as possible, while also not damaging my hair by pulling it back.
The half ponytail is still an important milestone, and yes, it will help you to keep cool and look cool at the same time.
Thanks for the input!
I say go for it. That's how I wore my hair at work since December of last year, and it's just barely long enough now to all fit in the tail. I don't know why people say it looks "feminine"; I never got any comments like that. Most people will tell you that your long hair in general looks feminine, so you might get comments regardless of how you wear it.
Finally, to actually answer your question, yes, pulling it back away from your neck will allow you to stay cooler.

Thanks for the input Dan! I'm still in the process of learning how to put my hair into a ponytail haha but I'll get it eventually.
