Hey guys,
4 pieces of good news:
1. Our wonderful mlhh mate and friend Jason getting married!!! :-D
2. I want to try growing out my hair a third time (1st time was shoulderblades-mid-back, 2nd time was mid-back-waist), but only to my shoulders and then we'll see.
I'll be honest though I may decide to cut it again sooner rather than later as I am still in the first year of trying to build my Personal Training business and I can't really afford to look scruffy.
I set myself a 6month goal of 'no cut' on March 6th and so it will be 6months next month!
3. My only regret in going to that Pro Wrestling Camp in Calgary in 2008 was that i missed my second favourite band of all time (The Cure comes number 1 for me!) Iron Maiden on their first Australian tour since 1992.
I missed them by 2 weeks and when I left Canada in April, I missed their Canadian show by 2 weeks again!
It was devastating stuff (Seriously) but the good news is that they're coming back here next year!
And I have my floor ticket baby!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here's a nice clip of them from 1986. Not my favourite song of theirs (though I enjoy 96% of their material) but *awesome* hair, esp. Bruce Dickinson (lead singer)and Steve Harris (bassist).
And who knows....maybe one day when I have mid-back hair+ again, I'll take the plunge like I *almost* did last time and get the fringe like Bruce has here.
4. I'm doing the Oxfam 100km trailwalk in 2 weeks time. To be honest I'm a bit scared as the longest I've ever hiked is 45km (a month ago! lol).
I'm in a team of 4 and we have 48hours to complete the walk (through the bush mainly) though our team goal is 30hours or less.
Anyway *no pressure* but if anyone wants to donate (100 or 1 whatever you want) please feel free! :)
The money does not go to me but to Oxfam a charity organisation who does a lot of good work, especially in Africa and 3rd world countries.
But again no pressure. Even though I'm a bit scared that it might not be a walk that I'll be able to 'walk away'from if you know what I mean (scared lol)
So that's it...Jason getting married, my possibly growing my hair a bit, Iron Maiden(!) and give me money lol
Take care mlhh!

But again, no pressure for anyone :)
I'll put a few phennigs your way mate.
...it means the world mate :-D
Hi Dean,
Good luck with the hair growing if you can stand it :-)
You should have come to Wacken with Kevin and I and was them last weekend and back in 2008. There are benefits of going to Germany you know and Bruce says he loves playing Wacken. Shame about the log jam of 70000 people afterwards lol!
Cheers,
John.B
Hey Dean,
I'm new here and this is my first response. In fact, I'm a new longhair; I have grown nine (9) in. in about eighteen months. I am so exhilerated with my new long hair; it's awsome. I know that I have always wanted to have long hair since my first haircut. I hope that you perservere and grow your hair beyond your waist, even to your thighs. You cn tie it up in a bun when you work out in the gym. By the way, I'm a body builder, also. I've just started to cut.
Later Bro.,
Raymond
Hi Raymond,
First of all welcome to the group and it's always nice to have new people join the group and well done on your hair journey so far. Perhaps you could post an update picture as that would be great to see. Just one thing about your last comment are you still growing it or keeping your hair the length as you mentioned "I've just started to cut."?
Cheers,
John.B
Hey Raymond,
First of all welcome to the board! I used to post here quite regulalry for years and even though I haven't met any of the members here in life, I consider them my friends.
It's a great place.
I'm also happy that you're excited about growing your hair. The first time (for some it becomes the 'only' time) is always the most fun IMO, every month is like a new discovery.
As for me...even if i was to grow my hair for a third time (and that's a big 'IF') it definitely wouldn't be too my butt, for reasons of reality (my terminal length is waist length max) and also because I wouldn't want to grow it lower than my waist.
Good luck with the bodybuilding cut too bro
Hi Dean,
Wow, that's quite a post but yes, the news from Jason was certainly uplifting as positive events are nice to hear about on mlhh:)He posted some very cool pictures from the big day that were fun to look through.
I wouldn't worry about longhair upsetting your personal training business. In fact I go to a gym on a regular basis and I see the trainers they have employed and if I were to pick one it would be the guy with longhair:)In fact I just got back from the gym and they have a new hire who .....is a longhair:)And to think the sky didn't fall!
Maiden is a great band and I haven't seen them in years.Maybe its time I go to some more concerts again but they just keep getting sooooo expensive. And we have the Ticketmaster monopoly which doesn't help.
That's cool about your walk for charity as it's nice when people can give.Unfortunately there are so many charities asking its mind boggling and the economy is still unstable. At least you are giving them your time.Cheers
Mark
but then again, I am far from the fantastic league Dean hails from and could probably be known as his Grandfather! :-0 Pic above about 1-1/2 yrs. old now and when I still had my long hair.
Daily 30 minute work-outs to keep the circulation going. And, at age 102 I am STILL "ticking." So there! LOL
("Stock Photo" above.)
From the secret "Justin Archives" of the remarkable to the bizzare! :-)
ps: More body muscle-mass today but weight quite low at 153lbs for someone 6' tall. Dr. says it should be 166lbs. And yet I eat well and am hardly starving myself. No way! I would be in BIG trouble if I did that.
Great pic there Justin. You're one step ahead of me though as I'm yet to take a photo of myself working out in the gym (one day! one day!...:)
Keep lifiting (no sarcopenia for you!!) and great to hear from u
Hey Mark, good to hear from you.
It's great to hear about the long-haired trainers. Here in Sydney however, I've only seen 2 other Personal Trainers (other than myself) with long-hair over the last 7 years of the hundreds of trainers I've seen in that time.
I don't care about trends, or being 'trendy' (even though i think that long hair on men is an excellent aesthetic appearance) but business is business so unfortunately my current hair growth will remain an experiment for the moment.
And yes, please go see Maiden again if you have the chance!!
Welcome back Dean!
Your 100 km trek for Oxfam sounds like a noble plan - keep us posted.
You've good taste my friend - I do like The Cure myself.
- Oren
I will let you know if I make it Oren haha thanks
And as for the Cure...cheers Sir! They/Robert Smith are incredible. Just got the Disintegration Deluxe CD out of my car after 2 weeks of straight listning to it. God I love them (and when I saw them here in Sydney a couple years ago...so good!)
Besides Robert Smith was my hair inspiration the very first time I grew mine out (it all leads back to the hair lol)
Good to hear from u man
