For those of you who follow the absurd wanderings of White Tail, I must be saying goodbye for a while. I have been offered the adventure and opportunity of a lifetime and will be headed to Afghanistan for the next 13+ months. It will be my privilege to support the young men and women of many nations fighting in that country. I will be working as a hydro-geologist with the SEEBEES and RED HORSE Squadrons installing water wells on the Forward Operating Bases. (See the link below).
I will miss my MLHH family and look forward to the day I will be having my morning coffee and evening tea with you again.
Happiness, Luck and Love to each of you
Walter
Hi Walter,
Wow, so that day did finally come.I know you mentioned this opportunity when we met all up at Duarte's last May but selfishly I was hoping you wouldn't go.I certainly will miss your participation on the board as well as behind the curtain.Just be sure to take care of yourself and do watch your back.Certainly Afghanistan is no vacation spot so I hope you find some fun over the next year or so.Hopefully some time in the distant future we can again sit down at the same table and just have a good ole time.Take care my friend as I wish you the very best:)Cheers
Mark
Be safe, friend. I'm already looking forward to your return, and to the White Tail tales you'll have to tell.
One Love,
Validus
Walter, I wish you good luck and a safe journey to and back from Afghanistan. It sounds exciting and scary at the same time.
Bruce
Walter,
I wish you all the best on your adventure my friend. To say, "be careful" just doesn't seem to be enough. - Bring yourself back safely my friend. We will all miss you and anticipate your quick return.
- Tristan
Sounds like an adventure! Have a safe journey and we will be waiting for you when you get back :)

Hi Walter, it looks like a great opportunity to make a very high wage. Hopefully you will get hazard pay. Afganistan is a dangerous place. Stay safe.
Scott
Good luck, keep safe, and enjoy the adventure.
Hey Walter! :-)
Wishing you nothing but the best in the year ahead and although I will be long gone by the time you return, looking forward to your next visit out this way and hearing some of the amazing first hand stories of this great opportunity of which you are ready to embark.
Take care and with good wishes to you always-
Justin~
Long gone?????
From being active on this wonderful board after many years.
Sorry to hear your leaving the MLHB for a while Walter. Be careful over there and try to come back again in one piece!

Looks like Helmand... I just hope that it wouldn't be exactly Marjah, Nad-e Ali or Sangin district!
Is it a civilian company or a military unit?
Probably you'll need to cut your hair due to the scarcity of water there...
See you in Khyberspace!
Yadgar
Aaaaaaaaaaagggghhhhh! Nooooooooooooo!
Walter,
Best of luck on your mission in Afghanistan!
With the amount of infrastructure work needed there, I would imagine your skills will be in demand.
Hopefully we'll have a chance to meet in person and have morning coffee together sometime when you return.
Safe journey my friend!
- Oren
Walter we wish you all the best and be sure to enjoy your experience, as you already know it's a rare one in a lifetime one that few get.
Take a few pics as well.
You know when appropriate.

Good luck Sir Walter. Have a rewarding adventure.
Walter,
I do not support the war (This one in particular and the war in general) but it really seems like unique and good opportunity to live some adventures. I wish you good luck ! Take care,
Vivien
