Hi Guys..
First, let me say I don't have a problem with gray hair. Long or Short. I'm just not ready for it on me quite yet.
Since my hair is now coming back in again from being shaved the last two years, I've noticed numerous white hairs. I've been able to take care of them with tweezers and a bit of time.
Anyone else have any ideas or thoughts on doing this? Any alternatives? or better yet remedies without coloring?

Outside of coloring, er, adjusting the hue. there is not much that can be done to eliminate white, er, platinum hairs form ones head. I have learned to like mine. Since my 'stache has gone white (and goatee, if I grow it) I have accepted the inevitable. Going white at the temples also. Accept it. It's not a bad thing. I don't care if my hair goes plaid, I am just glad I still have all of it.
Well, if you pull out your hair, you're not going to have any hair.
Try neutral henna. It'll subtly yellow up the white hairs without really changing your hair color. Make sure to buy the real stuff online, because the stuff in the store is probably just chemical dye that will damage your hair.

Alas, you may not be ready for it, but Genetics and Nature + age don't know that.
Best to let everything grow I would say and stop plucking out the grey ones.
Sometimes when longer ALL rather blends-in and the grey isn't noticed all that much.

OMG............where did you EVER get that photo of my Uncle Elmers' dear little son?

Hi Justin ..
I hope you're right. The longer my hair gets, I hope they are less noticeable.. unless I could look like Gandalf from L.O.T.R. :)
Thanks for posting..

The vision of a guy tweezing the Grey hairs from his haead made me laugh. As you are aware they come back so tweezing them out is not worth the effort, more an excercise in fuitility.
Aside from colouring I would suggest you mentally prepare yourself for their presence. Learn to love them as all of us who have them have done. :-)
Over to you John B..
Kevin
Hi Kevin..
Yeah.. I agree I looked pretty funny with tweezers in hand going at it for awhile there. :) It's not that there are alot, its just something I was a bit surprised to see a bit more of once my hair started reappearing. I think you're right ... acceptance is the best option.

Apart from anything else, eventually you would have to pull all of your hair out, which defeats the ob ject of growing it.
I'm one of those guys who started getting grey hair at the age of 16. Needless to say I'm pretty much full grey. I use just for men hair dye in the color real dark black and seriously no-one notices it looks great. I only have to use the stuff once every few months but this stuff works like a miracle. It could be worse.....you could be going bald, lol.
Tristan, I see guys in their 20's and 30's all of the time with a few odd grey hairs - perfectly natural
As others have said, you can touch the greys up with a little henna.
Relax and enjoy what your genetics has to offer!

I got a smattering of gray hairs (barely noticeable) when I was in my mid-30s, and 20 years later, they really haven't increased.
Hi Tristan,
I certainly would not worry about it and I've had grey hair at the temples since I was 18 and never worried about it and look at me now lol! It's just one of those things that you might get the odd grey hair and would not worry about it. If you are colouring maybe the way it's going to be an ongoing jobs for years. I just learned to live with mine and I've got one or two compliments over the years. As you hair is dark anyway and as it grows I'm sure you won't see them. After all look at Kevin.C only 1-2 greys!
Cheers,
John.B
Hi Tristan,
Being I'm weighing in late on this I'll just reaffirm what was said by others and that is just leave your hair alone!LOL.I wouldn't even imagine pulling hairs from my head just because I don't like the color. It's bad enough when you shed hairs on a daily basis but to purposely remove hair is a no no.Just be happy you have a full head of hair my friend. So sit back, enjoy your new journey and all will be fine:)Cheers
Mark
Well better grey hair then having male pattern balness. I already have grey hair and my father was early grey to but still has most of his hair at age 60.
Hi Tristan,
My thoughts are ro let just let those gray hairs be! I rather enjoy my "natural silvers" as they slowly take over, and they actually give my hair a lot of variation in colours, or "natural highlights", to put it better!

grow, along with the rest of your hair. I can't imagine pulling out hairs due to being white. I cherish every strand of hair that I have. I shed too much as it is, and would never consider this.
Be careful with chemical dyes. There is some evidence that they can cause cancer. Natural dyes are probably safe.
Scott
I agree Scott. I cherish every hair as well and would never tamper with any of them. There is actually an expression that 'if it grays, it stays' meaning that there's less likelihood of losing hair to MPB if you've had it long enough for it to go gray.
--------------------------------------
Actually the gray ones on my head are coarse and strong too. They are of higher quality than the ones with their original color. As a result, some of the longest ones on my head are gray ones. They survive wear and tear better.
Scott
Yes your right about the gray. My gray hair is growing in thicker then the original fine strands too. You could say if you have no MPB that your hair is getting thicker as you age. HA! HA!
Duncan
There is absolutely no need for this - grey long hair looks good and can be seen as a marker of remaining true to your principles when 'age' is considered by some as a reason to cut.
Don't agree with you and certainly hope no pone esle is persuaded.
Give me a head with hair, long flowing white hair.......
I have a basic theory: My hair can be whatever color it chooses to be, as long as it's still attached to my head.
Frodo
Hi Jim,
I could not agree with you more, unlike Scott how likes to keep some in that magical box of his.
Cheers,

Hi Everyone...
Well, after reading all the below comments I've decided to give up on search and destroy and let whatever comes my way just happen. I still plan on enjoying this 2nd trip to long-hairdom.. Thanks for the advice everyone.
Tristan
Long time no chat, Tristan! Great to see you back here again at MLHH!
As far as grey hairs go, genetics don't care whether you're "ready" for them or not to show up on your head: they are destined to arrive when they do, regardless!
Glad to hear you've decided to give up on the search & destroy, as that will only result in eventual baldness (LOL) -- even if you DON'T have any MPB!!
Anyway, again it's great to hear from you -- and I hope you keep it growing!

I'll keep my grey
hair I worked too
hard for it.
