Hey there fellow longhairs, I have been growing my hair out since July 2009 (14 months ago) and I must say things are going pretty well for me.
When I started, I had little confidence in myself and how I would look, but the longer my hair got, the happier I was with the results. I was a lurker for quite some time on this board and you guys gave me inspiration to keep going. I hope this post is in turn encouraging to people just starting their journey as well.
I still consider myself to be in the awkward phase, but hopefully not for much longer. It's hard to say what my goal is, perhaps mid-back, we'll have to see.
My hair care routine is CO wash every other day and comb/brush when necessary.
I also took a video of my hair, seeing as pictures sometimes don't do it justice:
That's great progress - you're nearly through the awkward phase, which is the hardest part. Looking good - enjoy!
Looks like your very near the end of the awkward stage and can start enjoying it.

Thanks for posting your hair pic as it looks great at 14 months of growth.Mid back would look fantastic on you and should be easily achievable with straight hair like yours.If you are adventurous you may want to try for waist length but certainly you'll have time to consider that.Lookin' awesome my friend:) Cheers

I normally don't reply to posts of pics that only show the back of someone's head; but I can't help but make an exception in your case -- not only does your hair look TERRIFIC, I also very much enjoyed reading your wonderful comments!
It sounds to me like you're a natural-born longhair. Whenever someone says that the longer their hair gets, the more they find they like it that way, then I'd say you are definitely on the right path! I can fully relate to your sentiments, as that was my own discovery process as well.
No worries about how long your exact ultimate length will become. That sort of decision all happens in due time. For now, just enjoy the journey.. and I greatly look forward to more progress reports from you in the future!

I can't get it all in a ponytail yet, but it's getting close. Past mid-back? Wow, I can hardly imagine that right now! More progress updates in the future, I can assure you all :)

You have an excellent head of hair, and staright hair like yours is the easiest type to grow longer, so your goal of mid back should be a breeze. Who know, once you get there, you may even consider going even longer, as so many of us tend to do!
