So I'm just wondering; how many friends, or family or acquaintances do you have who have long hair?
I'm lucky to go to a high school which has sort of a tradition of long hair, so I'm graced with many longhaired friends (guys).
I also recently found an old picture of my dad with his former waist-length hair from the 70s (long hair is in the blood! :) ).
So how many longhairs are in your life or close to you?

Hi Charlie, good idea for a thread.
All of my friends are longhairs, most being mid-back to classic length. Couple of my cousins have tailbone length hair. Dad has shoulder length hair. Me I'm barely shoulder length :( Oh well, I'll catch up.
Sounds like a great environment for growing your hair! It's been very helpful for me to have all that support around.
I have 3 long-haired friends, although no one in my family has ever had long hair. :/
I know other people around me (in college) who also have long hair, but I don't consider them as "friends", really.
There are a few people I work with that have long hair, but nobody I know outside work has it. No males in my family besides me seems to even consider it an option.
Family-wise, only my middle brother has ever had long hair. His was down to his waist, but he cut it several years ago.
I have a number of long-haired friends/acquiantances, but I think much of that stems from the medieval re-enactor crowd I hang out with.

Not many! In the village where I live there is one other long haired male, and one other who used to be a longhair until about five years ago. Amongat close friends, I am also the only one.
But at least that makes me unique!
Hey Charlie M,
GREAT question -- and I believe it's the first time it's ever been asked here!
When I was a teen still in high school, my dad absolutely did not allow long hair on myself or my 4 brothers; but by my Jr. and Senior years I already had 2 of my closest friends at the time who had long hair -- as well as 3 out of my 4 brothers all enthusiastically grew our hair out the moment we got away from my dad's oppressive rules (due to both a family divorce, and also leaving the house when I turned 18)...
Now that I'm a bit of a "geezer" (age 57), I have to say that I rarely meet guys my own age who have hair even half as long as mine; but I think that's mostly due to a lot of my contemporary-aged friends having lost a lot of hair due to MPB or major hair-thinning. My 3 surviving brothers, however, still occasionally allow their hair to be at least long-ISH. And out of my 3 nephews, all have grown their hair out to at least "shaggy", with one of them having had waist-length dreds when he was in college. I also have a dance friend who re-grew his hair long a few years ago (although he has threatened to go back to short recently).
It should go without saying that anybody that I know personally from here (Bill Choisser, for example) obviously is a longhair -- although I didn't originally meet Bill on MLHH, because I met him at a local Street Fair in Y2K before I even owned a computer!
The vast majority of my friends and family, though, all have short hair (including most of the women I know - LOL).... However, if I don't want them to judge me based on my hair-length, then it seems only fair that I not do the same to them as well (even if I do feel that short-hairs are a little "misguided" - LOL).

Hi Charlie M,
Very cool post and some great answers so far.Present day I really have no other real life friends who are longhairs other than guys who I've met through this great board:)Unfortunately they don't live close to me so I only see them on occasion.Just last week I had the honor to meet some fantastic people who are....longhairs!I was out on the west coast visiting the bay area of CA for these meet ups.I have to admit its fun actually knowing other guys who like growing their hair long.It takes a special person to put up with the effort it takes in achieving having such hair on their heads. My hair has been long for so long I can't even remember what it was like just starting out from a short cut.I intend to have longhair like forever;)Cheers my friend.

My oldest son and I are the only guys in my family with long hair. That's counting my brothers and nephews as well.
Throughout my life I've had a couple of close friends with long hair. In fact I've never had a "best" friend that wasn't a long hair. One such friend that I have now, actually lives about 3.5 hour drive from me. We are actually envious of each others hair. We discuss often about who has the best hair. His is about a foot longer than mine though.

Still friends with a long time longhair, we have known one another since early high school, and at one time we were in freindly competition to see who's hair was longer, he won, as he kept his long since, while I did go the corpoate cut look and my hair varied in length through the years, he is still longhaired and bearded. Recently got in touch again with several guys form that long ago time period. and a few do sport long hair, still. I have one close friend here in Phoenix who has a tail of considerable length, but his very curly hair belies that fact. My own hair continues in it's strides toward greater length.
I have a few long-haired friends, but I don't see them often. I don't come into contact with many long-haired guys on a day-to-day basis.
