I have very long hair, and to keep from becoming bored with it, try different styles, without actually cutting it. A particularly usefull gel alternative that conditions, provides excellent hold, and washes out easily is Aloe Vera Gel. Yep, the same green gel you use for sunburns allows you to style your hair, thickening it and contitioning it all the while. I have some old pics of me on http://photos.yahoo.com/mrjeffpayne Although it is much longer now. What I like to do for that "Mane" look is to shampoo, condition as you normally would, provide a generous, but not overwhelming amount of aloe vera dispersed evenly, pull back into a tail while wet, and after it dries.... Presto! It stays out of your face, because it dried that way, and is very manageable. I also use a half tail, full tail, or keep it over one shoulder. A braid is nice for work. Especially when dealing with food. But back to the Aloe. I leaves your hair thick and very touchable when it dries. Give it a try! And email me, let me know if you have tips, or liked my tip. mrjeffpayne@yahoo.com
