I have shoulder length thick wavy brown hair all-1-length. I've noticed that the ends at the bangs seem kind of dry (these are the most curly also). I haven't had a trim in over 6 months. I'm shooting for a length abut 6 inches longer, which would be almost to my mid-back. The question is.... should I get a trim??? I've read many posts against trims, but I was under the impression that it would remove the split/dry ends and enable me to comb and brush easier. Should I wait till I achieve the length I want, or get a slight trim now??? Your thoughts r appreciated.
That depends. If the ends are split or breaking off, a slight trim wouldn't be a bad idea. I'd say 1/4" or so.
If they're strong, not breaking off, not split, and only just dry...don't cut. Moisturize. Condition heavily. Use a conditioner called "Thick Ends" on the ends of your hair. It's not cheap, but terribly pricey either. You don't need much, just a little bit on your palm.
TRim only if the ends are damaged. Dry is no big deal. You can condition dry hair.
I agree with rocker on this.Trimming hair that isn't damaged just dry, will only make it shorter.Use a good conditionet and don't shampoo until it starts looking too oily.
