I am a 17 year old and I am in 11th grade. I live in NJ. I found this board because I am interested in growing out my hair at least shoulder length. I am having some problems. My hair is getting in my eyes. What can I do. Also, I gets oily after like a day. Thank you. Hope to get some advice.
Hi, and welcome to the board.
To deal with the awkward stage when your hair is unruly, you have a few options:
1) Keep the hair restrained under a cap or beanie
2) Use clips, headbands, etc. You may have to deal with comments concerning your use of "feminine" products
3) Slick it back with hair gel or something similar
4) Do nothing and tough it out
I am at shoulder length right now and went with option 4, but if I had to do it again I'd go with the hair gel route. I was just too excited about my lengthening hair to care about the hassle of having hair in my face!
If you have an issue with oily hair, you may find that it works itself out as your hair grows. There is more hair for the oil to work its way down so it doesn't become concentrated on your scalp. Try using a milder shampoo or shampoo less often, as drying your hair out too much causes your body to overcompensate and produce more oil than necessary.
Hope this helps,

Alice bands are also very useful.
Good luck
