For those of us on this board who discuss this subject, moments ago, there was a great article on NPR about face-blindness - prosopagnosia.
There is a link to the NPR article, and a book by Heather Sellers, below.

What activity in the chat room!
Well Bill is resident expert in that and he's even on TV about it.
Cheers,

I have this, but mildly. My friend Bill has this condition, to the extreme. For him, it is at least one full order of magnitude more severe than in my situation.
Here is a link to his face blindness site.

I did this test as i have difficulty to recognize some people, i'v got about 70%.
Just as i guessed, not that bad but a bit low.
I would say I have some problems recognising people, but I got 81%, and apparently 80% is average. That tells me that having some problems recognising faces is normal, but obviously some people have far more difficulty.
I found that test really hard and my results were..
Out of 72 faces, you correctly identified 44. In other words, you got 61% correct. On our previous version of this test, the average person with normal face recognition was able to recognize about 80% of the faces. If you correctly identified less than 65% of the faces, this may indicate face recognition difficulties
I've always had trouble recognising people - its a standard joke that 'Men all look the same to me' (I'm female btw) What I do notice is difference, the way someone walks and I'm sure hair being different is part of my thing. Perhaps Mother Nature has made some of us like this to make mating easier.. that poor lassie who ran up to a completely stange guy and hugged him thinking it was her partner?? In the animal world.. she'd be in trouble!
Maybe thats why some of us like things different, we are safer with those we recognise and if we cant recognise face.. hair & other features are a huge thing.. I once almost grabbed some poor man off the street for a joke thinking it was my dad too - we used to lark around, I was about 10 - and it wasnt - doesnt get worse than that!!! eek!!! (Can't take me anywhere!!)
