Hi Guys
Don't know how many of you remember me, I'm kinda old-skool... But here's an update of sorts I started growing in 2003 and I've been maintaining this length (mid back) since about 2006.
Comments/Questions appreciated,
Bonus Pic... Braids.
--------------------------------
Those are absolutely gorgeous braids. I had no idea that your hair was so thick. You are truly blessed. How big in girth is your ponytail? Mine is about 2.6".) I am guessing yours is 4" plus.
Scott
Hey Scott, depends really on whether or not my hair has aired dry naturally in which case the waviness causes it to poof out quite a bit, but yeah it can be quite thick. I'll post another pic which includes my ponytail, have one from a football (soccer) tournament last year with ex-Scotland International Darren Jackson pulling my shirt (which also shows my hair pretty well.)
The braids look great! I've often considered something similar sometimes when I get a bit more length.
Sorted, Awesome braids. Fantastic hair!
peace, jonalbear
Oh that's cute! ^_^
Dude! Good to see you here again. Your hair looks fantastic and is inspirational for sure.
Hi Sorted,
Well I date back to 2005 as a member here and I do remember your name for sure:)I don't recall when you stopped posting but regardless its cool you came back to show such wonderful pictures of you and your hair.Obviously you settled on a goal length that works for you which is how it should be.I really like that pic of your double braids as they are sooooooo awesome!Anyway thanks for posting and hopefully you'll be back again for more than a brief visit.I like it when past members return to the scene of the crime!LOL.Cheers
Mark
Hey Mark
I've been lurking for the past week, but thought I'd get some photos together before posting. Don't know how long this return will be, treat is as cameo, dunno how inspirational I'll prove be, but I hope I can offer others some encouragement.
Well certainly I'd like to see you back for the long haul as I feel you ARE an inspiration:)Just because your hair isn't to the floor is no reason to think otherwise. But I realize guys have other things going on in real life so I'll take whatever you feel you can contribute.
Mark
In case anyone is interested....
My hair is naturally wavy, but it blow-dry's straight. Yup heat is bad, but I can't leave my hair wet to dry naturally because I suffer from a scalp condition which is made worse by having damp hair all day.
I do cut my hair fairly regularly (every 4 months) and as you can see from the photos my hair is layered. The shortest layers are cut around my chin at the front, and some 6 inches shorter than the main length at the back. This takes some of the weight out of my otherwise thick hair and makes it a bit more manageable without making it look shorter.
A 6 inch difference in layer length is also about what most people have growing out naturally without cuts as the difference between the top of your head and the nape of your neck is about 6 inches. The difference is by trimming the ends of my hair look less wild and take less damage from brushing.

Welcome back, David. Your hair looks gorgeous. You are a real success story. I was hoping to hear from you again. Do you still live on Tenerife? That is beautiful island, but small.
Scott
Yeah still live in Tenerife, its not that small, still takes about 4 hours to drive its circumference and about 3 days to walk across it, but I guess its nothing compared to the Great Outdoors in the US. :D
Well, I'm kinda new, but welcome back! Your hair looks awesome, assuredly inspiring.
Hi David,
Good to hear from you mate and how is like on the island?
That's for the update and it's great to see you posting again and it's always nice to hear from people that used to post here. As I'm sure from your lurking we have old and new people posting as well that's for sure.
The hair looks in amazing condition and great your regime for the last few years has certainly been working.
Keep in touch.
Cheers,
John.B
Hi John,
Yeah my "EVIL HAIRCARE REGIME" has been working pretty well. It basically involves using a shed-load of conditioner and products to protect my hair and then blasting it with an ionic hair dryer.
Trims are typically every 4 months which is about the time the tips of my hair become prone to snagging, obviously the more you force a comb through the knots the more damage you do to ends of your hair and the more frayed the ends look.
I tend to get under an inch cut each time so I should get a net growth of around 3-4 inches per year, but I think my hair is close to terminal length so its been hovering around this length for a few years now. It probably would get longer, if I left and quit using the hair dryer, but I wouldn't enjoy it as much.
I never said evil lol...I certainly would not think that lol!
Yeah I know, I was using it in jest. The word 'REGIME' never seems to be used these days with been accompanied by negative undertones.
Hi Sorted,
It is awesome to hear from you again. Although I had not joined the hyperboard at the time you posted regularly, it was not too long before I heard how highly regarded you have been over the years, and it was always a pleasure to see you stop in from time to time to give us an update. Of course you have always been an inspiration, and I do hope you stop on by a little bit more often.
Take care,
David
David
Good to hear from you after so long. Your hair continues to look AWESOME both with and without braids.
Congratulations on how it looks, I recall how much this meant to you when you grew it out.
Do you still live in the sun?
Don't make it so long next time.
Hey David
Of course I remember you and all you did for the MLHH. You were beyond outstanding in every sense of the word!
Good thing I "popped-in" today. Your long hair looks sensational, and what you are doing to maintain it ever so perfect and working out great! :-)
And for you guys reading this who don't remember "Sorted:" He kept the MLHH in "ship-shape" condition the whole time he was moderator here, and was dedicated to the cause in taking on tasks so profound you wouldn't believe! He gave of his time in such a generous manner in getting things done, and I might add in a masterful way. His absense was a great loss and left a void in the history of this board.
Great to see you back David and know that your long hair is better looking than ever. I DO believe that how you are choosing to maintain it is working out perfectly.
All the best-
Justin~
Hi Justin, thanks so much for your kind words, you do me too much credit. Hope you are keeping well.
Long time no see, stranger!
David, you're looking as great as ever and not a day older.
Good to hear from you - I hope all is well on the islands.
