at the end of a very hairy tunnel.. but Im not their yet
short-time visiter, first time poster
Comitmet
I`ve been growing my hair out since early last april & can safely say that Im nearing the end of the awkard stage.
Hair type
In my shorter hair days (2 to 6 inches) my hair was extremly curly but lately seems to be leaning more towards wavy
Current Length
-Only an inch or 2 passed the very tops of my shoulders (with newly natural wave)
-Doesnt even reach my shoulders (with curly bedhead)
-Almsot to armpits (with fresh from shower strait)
quick note: the hair at the lower back area was probibly 3 or 4 inchs long even after that last cut
Goal Length
My goal length is a little different than that of the other future-longhairs on this sight. Where most of the furutre longhairs seem to have a MAX-length goal, mine is a MIN-length goal. My goal is to get my hair compeltely passed the armpits, and to never let it go back.
How I did it so far
-Even before I commited to becoming a longhair, I was only getting my hair cut every 4 to 6 months
-I had my 20th birthday this summer, so last newyears I decided that I didnt want to spend 1 second of official adulthood as a shorthair
-Since I commited, Ive completley stopped using shampoo, and only use Garnier Furctis Long & Strong Conditioner
Issues
-My hair will generally point down for the rest of the day after Ive delt with the bedhead & wet it alittle. but when its restrained (be it with my bandana or in a ponytail) any hair passed the restrait still poffs out in every direction
-Hair right at hairline stays completely flat against my skin, and I dont know if thats got to do with the length of my hair or how Im caring for it
I only just looked up what the definition of curly or wavy hair actually was. It seriously never occured to me to research the difference untill now, and everyone I know has been calling it curly for a long as I can remember
Turns out my hair is always wavy when not fresh from a shower
But now Ive got another question: what kind of hairbrush or comb should I be using?
So far Ive been using what I think is called a hair pick, to very mixed results. That is, if I don't just use my hands. And even that is only because the only other things I have at home are some old soft-bristle hairbrush that dont do anything to my hair.
A lot of people on here talk about boar bristle hairbrushs. But I actually have researched those, and most of the sources Ive checked say that that kind of brush is for strait hair only.
What other kinds of hairbrush are there?
