Hey all!
So for the past month or so I've used organic shampoo and have loved it. My hair can actually go a week without looking greasy smelling awful. The next step I'd like to take is using baking soda and vinegar to clean my hair. Has anyone tried this before and what have your experiences been with it? Thanks!
Rich
I'm not to the great length or experience of many users on this board so take whatever I say with a grain of salt... but I use baking soda every once in awhile, mixed with normal shampoo to give it some substance, but mostly baking soda. It works wonders as a deep cleanser and will clear out any residue in your hair, but it leaves it very dry and poofy and you have to get something into it afterwards. Not sure what would be best, the vinegar might work great, again, no experience in the matter as yet. I have been needing to try something else but I had some vegetable oil laying around the house and so being the cheap bugger that I am I've been using very small amounts of that to remoisten my hair a bit after the times that I use baking soda, until I get around to buying something else.
Anyways, I wouldn't recommend the veggie oil (it works but it's not ideal), but baking soda is great for cleaning, just be ready to put something in afterwards. I have very thick hair and have a real hard time getting regular shampoos to rinse out and they almost always leave my hairs stuck together and gunked up with residue to the point that I can barely get my fingers through it. I don't ever have that problem with the baking soda, it basically strips your hair to its natural naked state, which is too dry, but it's nice and clean.
