I found this Message Board on the links section of Little Bird Long Hair. I never knew this MLHH board existed, but now I'm glad to know it does.
I've used other sites geared to long haired women and it's safe to say they were not the friendliest. I won't mention names but I'm sure many of you know who and what I'm talking about.
Anyway, here's a photo of my ponytail as of today! Enjoy! I'm 31 years old and have been growing my hair from just above shoulder length for 8 1/2 years. This is my hair tied back in its natural state. I did not comb it.
My hair measures in the range of 32"-35". It's 35" when stretched and 32" left alone. It's waist length I guess you could say roughly.
I also have a long hair related web site here: www.flickr.com/groups/longhairphotoforum

Hey and welcome to the site! I'm also a fairly new face around here never knowing about this place until I went to visit a friend, and got stuck outside at their place and was using their wi-fi.
You have a nice looking head of hair there, and that length is just slightly longer than my goal. You never know, maybe i will get to my goal and still want to keep growing!
Thanks for posting your intro and I also checked out the longhaired site, looks cool!

Hi J.M.M.
I do remember seeing your profile on these other long hair sites over a year or two ago and did read your posts there.
Anyway welcome to this MLHH community where I am sure you will feel right at home here.
Your hair looks excellent, very healthy and thick.
Bill Choisser in one of his posts I remember he noted something like this:
Long hair Men and Women seldom have much in common other then length of hair. That is one reason why there isn't much rapport on Community Forums between the two groups.
Men in general grow long hair because it makes them feel better, Women in general grow it long because of how it looks. Of course there are exceptions and people do grow hair long for different reasons.
Culturally long hair on women is seen as conservative, and under societies control whereas long hair on men is seen as less likely to be under mainstream societies control.
Duncan
Hi Duncan,
You've hit on a valid conversation point. More should be researched into this sociologically since one would think "birds of a feather flock together", however there is the argument that "opposites attract" too.
I agree, it seems long haired men and long haired women in general do not relate to one another or understand each other as a whole. To find two more different type of people is difficult in fact!
I think I'm aware of the reasons behind why this is, but am afraid to voice these observations as one could say they are quite controversial, unfair, biased and sexist. Men and women grow their hair long for quite different (perhaps opposite) reasons and perhaps this is why they don't relate to one another (and personalities conflict).
You see, women grow long hair for societial approval and acknowledgment (conformity, statism) in order to gain something worldly, whereas men do it for themselves because they like how it looks despite being against the tides of society as a whole (non-conformity, libertarianism). I believe that most women don't really care much about how their long hair looks and are merely looking to gain attention, material wealth, acceptance and prestige. In other words, most women wouldn't grow long hair if they were of the male sex.
The difference between a long haired male and long haired female is the long haired male is spiritual in nature and the long haired female is materialistic and often vain. You guys know what I'm talking about. Yes, this is controversial in nature but the truth often hurts. The truth is men get nothing out of growing long hair except for the fact that they have long hair on them to appreciate. In fact long hair acts more often as a handicap to men and needlessly so.
What I say is particularly relevant in American culture concerning long hairs. Europeans however are more sincere in why they like their long hair I've found, regardless of the sex issue. The deeper issue might just lie in the priorities and social conditioning of the American people. We as a society in America have to return to the ideas of being true to ourselves, appreciating the virtues of independent liberty and consciousness of our natural world. Only then can we return to thinking with a clear mind.
Phoniness has become a rampant disease in America. Few people out there are genuine anymore, true to themselves or know themselves. There is too much social conditioning of the American populace through institutions and media. With a little guidance from free thinkers, I was able to escape the damage that I was pressured and indoctrinated with since birth (that I hated)! In American society through most institutions, we are taught to think of most things for them to be viewed in one way (depending on the age we're in). If we go against the accepted gospel of the power elite, we are then mercilessly persecuted in any multiple ways by design to be controlled. The New World Order elites fear us and our kind. They wish to eradicate us and our ilk. We must be sure they do not get their way!
Jeffrey
Our free thinking kind must educate to balance the inequity of more prevalent and unchallenged ideas. Don't keep your vision of the world to yourself. Where there's a will, there's a way. You can't have a revolution take place by yourself.
Hi J.M.M,
I would like to welcome you to the hyperboard, and also thank you for sharing your inspirational photo with us. You have hair to be proud of, and you are blessed with outstanding thickness as well. By all means, keep it growing!
Welcome aboard,
David
I know exactly what you're talking about with SOME, not all women in those message boards. I've seen them tear apart a picture of a celebrity for putting his hair in a chingnon, as they called it - folding his ponytail in half like a messy bun. They think they can say what an independent adult must do with their hair. Some said flatly that long hair on any man was absolutely deplorable, ridiculous, offensive, on and on and on..... BUT!!... There were a small minority of women who said they loved their boyfriends long hair and thought it was hot in a bun!!! Haha!
Welcome! Your hair's breathtaking and I enjoyed your attitude.

Hey J.M.M.,
Welcome to the Community!
Your hair is awesome! Keep it growing! Your length is great for just 8 1/2 years from shoulder length. I really hope that you will continue to let it grow and post monthly photos to inspire us. Do not get your hair cut. Do not get it trimmed.
Great to know you, Bro.!
Raymond
Hi Raymond,
Getting hair trimmed is okay just to keep the ends from damage. If I didn't do the ends, my hair would not be as long, thick or healthy looking. I thank you for the compliments. I do update pictures monthly pretty much! Keep in touch.
Greetings,
Jeffrey

Greetings, J.M.M.
Your hair is fantastic. I really like the braid image. Keep it growing. (Classic length would be a good goal to try for.)
