I am 40 years old and live in Nebraska. I was a mulletboy in the 80's and early 90's. Career choices had me going to the buzz style cut until present. I lost my job last fall due to the crappy economy and found a great paying position as a "working man" once again. With the blessing from my wife and my two wonderful little girls I will once again become a member of the "longhair" community but not with a mullet this time. I can't wait to feel my hair on my back once again, it's a simple pleasure but one that I truly miss. I'm looking forward to hearing tips and reading about others during my new long overdue journey. Attached is a picture of me at the Grand Canyon early last year. As you can see I will be starting from scratch. I wish I had a scanner to scan an old mullet picture of me, or maybe not :) Happy New Year!!! I'm pumped!!!
Hi Mahoney,
We are both are of the same generation, I too am 40 and also had the mullet hairstyle in the 1980's and early 1990's.
New Year's Day is a great time to set fresh goals to start a fresh year with.
With the support of your wife and two daughters I'm sure that you will achieve your goal within a few years.

Great decision! It looks like you have fantastic, thick hair so your results should be excellent.
Congratulations on your new position and of course your decision to grow your hair long again! It's great to also have the wife and kids on board. Based on your picture (nice scenery, by the way) your hair looks thick and perfect to grow long.
Best of luck,
-Dan H.
I'm five yearts older. I remember those mullet kids! I want to see the picture! If you can.

Congrats on growing out your hair again! You look like you've been blessed with a lovely head of hair!
When I cut my hair off just over 2 years ago for one of MY career choices thats also one of the first things I missed.. the feeling of my hair against my back, the process of combing and brushing it, the way it made me look.
Now, 2 very long years later I am finally beginning to look truly longhaired again, and its such an amazing feeling! It amazed me at how quickly that transition has happened over the past 6 months too!
Its also great that you have the support of your family and a workplace that is open to long hair on men, too!
here's to a great new year of lots of growth!

Congratulations on having the support of your family! That's not always easy to come by with this type of thing haha
Do update us once you get some growth going. Take care and long live longhair!
Hi there Mahoney,
Welcome to MLHH!!!
So glad to hear about you being so pumped at becoming a longhair again!! The simple pleasures that you described are indeed a joy to experience, and in my opinion, a natural-born right to have for your entire life (if you so wish to stay a longhair for life).
It's also so cool to hear about people who have full support from their families. That can mean so much!
Anyway, I really enjoyed reading your introductory comments, and greatly look forward to hearing and seeing more from you in the future!
Happy Hair-growing!
